Are there any downloadable "master lists" for the Citation/Bibliography function in Word?

I am using Word 2024.

Under the "References" tab, Word allows you to insert citations (footnotes, endnotes) from a bibliography of sources. When navigating to:

REFERENCES > MANAGE SOURCES

it displays the "Source Manager" with a "Master List." However, the master list starts completely empty and must be populated manually by the user, which makes the whole feature impractical for my workflow.

Does anyone know if there are pre-existing, already-created "master lists" of books, articles, etc., that can be imported directly into Word's source manager?

Try googling 'citation database'. I doubt you'll find anything that's both free and helpful in your situation. How many citations do you have, that makes populating them 'impractical'?

From over the decades? . . . thousands.

So, . . . populating Word's bibliography, so that I could use it for citations? That would be entering the "seventh circle of hell." 🙀

I assume you realise that what you are asking for is an online list of every document that has ever existed.
I really do think your project is misconceived.

I suppose you've never heard of filter lists . . . ?

Of what? Specific topics? This question is so open ended as to be confusing. If we had some 'filter' as to what you were seeking instead of basically asking for master list of 'everything', perhaps our input could be more useful.

Ah... I see just for giggles I did a search for 'master list that that can be imported into word' and found your post of the MS Office forum.

I see both a mod and the admin answered your query with basically the same as what is being explained to you here.
