Hello, i recently bought and put together a GX501GL with parts found over aliexpress and the internet, except the Monitor, i am using an external portable monitor through the HDMI output on the device!! Installed Windows 11 with original ISO using the Media Creation Tool to obtain, and using Rufus onto a flashdrive to install. No issue here until driver updates started. I figured it must be the GPU driver acting up, since the moment it fully installed the external Monitor was blinking once or twice, and then nothing, black screen without any response. Apparently not receiving any signal! I restarted the Notebook, Bios flash screen shows up, recovery screen shows up, but once it tries to get into Windows 11 the device is stuck with a black screen. Is there any way around this issue?

Trying to prevent the update from happening was one way which I tried often enough to narrow the issue down onto the GPU driver force installing. I wish to have the latest driver installed to have a fully working System and not potentialy later being surprised by a bricked device because of a later GPU driver update. So here is my guess;

Since the Device comes without a monitor, there is no way i can test the internal monitor device (eventually, that would be the last step). I want to force only using the external HDMI output despite being a monitor installed, as well preventing FN + F6 from happening. You are amazing guys on this forum which eventually have one or two reg files coming my way, to accomplish these two essential steps, summing up which would be and what I need;

- forcing only the external HDMI output of the device being in use
- preventing disabling monitor locking FN + F6 never / or always to happen. (since I am using the external output)

Why aren't you using the LCD screen of the laptop?
How are you connecting the external monitor? HDMI? Display Port? Or are you using an adapter?
Have you tried a different cable? Have you tried a different monitor?

Have you downloaded the Graphics driver for your model from the Asus web site??

- I dont have the lcd screen of the laptop
- with a hdmi cable when i am already writing about it in the post.
- HDMI, yes
- no adapter
- i am quite certain its not a cable issue since everything works fine until the gpu driver finished installing and sets in.
- yes, i tried different monitors

I am whyever punishing myself for answering these questions...

Anyway, i will try to install the gpu driver from asus directly, its actually something helpful.

What is that supposed to mean?

aliexpress
AliExpress doesn’t get a great rap on this forum. In fact I’ve read threads that ridicule it.

A. Have you checked the BIOS for anything that may help with connecting an external monitor. I don’t know this system so it’s just a thought.
B. Have you considered that something you bought via “AliExpress” is faulty?

currently going through different windows versions from XP, 7, 8.1, 10

How did that go?

How did that go?

Sorry to "Punish You" for asking you to clarify what you have already done.

The version of Windows isn't going to solve your problem. You still need to install the Graphics Driver from the Asus web download page for your model. or by going to Windows Update.

I'm not at all sure, but if on another computer on a nvme drive install Windows, specify to use only the second display and install that drive in a laptop, then maybe it will work ?
That's just a guess.
