Further microcode improvements for the voltage condition leading to degrading 13th and 14th gen desktop CPU :boom:

I have been running this microcode and ME firmware for a while in a modded BIOS for my system. I have not had any issues. Here are the release notes for my board:

Excellent, I see there is an updated BIOS for my Borad as well. Let's hope it does not mess with my memory as the last BIOS did.

I have the ASUS Z790 ProArt Creator Wifi MB

I wonder if other makers will roll out similar changes? I have a couple of Gigabyte MB based systems.

I just checked, and the Gigabyte update utility doesn't see them, but there are new BIOS versions with later Intel uCode, so I updated them. I'm a little bummed that Gigabyte doesn't see them with their updater, that's it's whole purpose in life!

I had to RMA my 14900KF a few months back as it got progressively unstable, therefore I have always kept my BIOS at the current version. Sad that an unlocked CPU basically cannot run any overclock without potentially failing within weeks.

I did have a few issues with memory and timings though; older BIOS versions were less forgiving with ram timings. Let's hope 3001 does not have the same issues, I will know later when I do the update.

As I feared, memory issues once again, any stress test now fails. Before I updated, I ran the same stress tests without a failure. So annoying

Seems like a stable bios but these last two have made some changes that def do seem to affect stability. A couple of settings I recommend trying out are;

MRC Fast Boot = Disable
MCH Full Check = Enabled
DIMM RON Training = Enabled

Hope it helps

I don't overclock, and so far I see nothing changed with the new BIOS. I want stability, I don't do gaming. Probably the most compute intensive thing I do is my 3D modeling, but it doesn't move nearly as fast as games. :-)

Don't need to oc to take advantage of ram settings & training. Can also try bumping LLC to 6 (default on intel settings should be 5)

Don't need to oc to take advantage of ram settings & training. Can also try bumping LLC to 6 (default on intel settings should be 5)
The Raptor Lake processors are having enough issues now, no need to push them any more! :lmao: The machine is plenty fast for my use, the current benchmarks place the new machine 4x the speed of the processor in my previous nine year old machine, so I feel already like it's overclocked. ;-) My major move this time was a much better GPU as my 3D modeling was the primary driver for faster speed.

A number of people do seem to be having a lot of stability issues with these update:

What I had done, before this official update, was to modify Asus' 1901 beta BIOS to use 0x12F instead of 0x12C microcode that that beta BIOS came with, I had absolutely no issues with this for a number of weeks. I assumed that the only change going to the official 2001 BIOS would be in the microcode (the two BIOS had the same creation date). But with 2001 my memory was not stable with the same settings. I had to tweak some memory timings to get it stable, but it seems OK after that.Apparently something changed other than microcode affecting memory stability

This is the exact issue i had, with the last official BIOS for my board 2801, I was stable, I could run the built memtest for 24hrs with no issue. I saved my current BIOS settings, flashed to the new BIOS, reloaded my previous settings, and memtest would fail within a few seconds. I had to change mem timings as well, so the update seems to do other undocumented tweaks. My system is now stable again. My replacement CPU has never been overclocked, but it seems like a real shame.

Ever since I have had this board, every BIOS update from the original version the board came shipped with, there have been slight tweaks required to get the platform stable again, in all cases it's been memory timing related. Older versions allowed faster timings.

Asus memory training is not very good IMO. DDR5 is more complicated than DDR4 - there are more voltages and controllers on the memory itself that need to be adjusted. Asus training can produce meta-stable results that work until, say, you turn off the power supply. I am talking from an overclocking memory perspective. I just tighten the timings at the XMP speed. Sigh.

So far the new Gigabyte BIOS is fine on both of my computers with the Raptor Lake gen 14 processors.
