Asus Z790-H new Bios is out 3001 - more Intel CPU corrections in Bios

probably other models of the board and series are getting them soon also. FYI.
(I just updated mine now). Sorry, I didn't post link, but it's on Asus website support for the motherboard.

Asus rolling out new BIOS for Raptor Lake boards (13th, 14th gen)

Further microcode improvements for the voltage condition leading to degrading 13th and 14th gen desktop CPU :boom: I have been running this microcode and ME firmware for a while in a modded BIOS for my system. I have not had any issues. Here are the release notes for my board:

Updated my Z790 board, but then there were memory errors what were not present with BIOS 2801, had to loosen a few timings. Seems to happen with every BIOS update. I wish they would list all the fixes made.

Asus are rather naughty not listing more info about what has changed in their bios updates.

Update the Intel microcode to version 0x12F to further improve system conditions that may contribute to Vmin Shift instability in Intel 13th and 14th Gen systems.

If that was the case, then memory settings that were previously stable, should still be stable. This never seems to be the case with Asus Z790 BIOS updates. On the official forums, other users are experiencing similar issues. Unless the Vmin shift issue affects RAM indirectly?

Installed the 3001 bios update yesterday on my ProArt Z790 Creator Wifi board with default settings (F5). No issues so far, first bios update I've done for just over 6 months.

BIOS updates always scare the heck out of me. I'm always afraid the computer will shut off randomly (happened before), or we have a power outage during the update (happened before). . . Luckily, my motherboards have a BIOS USB where I can just flash it if something like that happens, but I hate going that route.

They don't scare me, but I only do them infrequently or out of necessity. Must say doesn't do the heart any good when the computer tries to boot into Windows and the dreaded screen of death makes an appearance.

Ain't that the truth. I'm very OCD. When there's an update from the Manufacturers website, my OCD kicks in and I have to get it. I keep pretty much everything updated, except Windows. I have Windows Updates disabled.

I feel the same, and each BIOS update seems to mess with RAM timings as well. Then you waste time getting this to work again. In reality the 13th & mostly 14th should have been recalled. All these firmware updates, only seem to gimp the cpu and we are not getting what we paid for. I waited 15 years to upgrade my platform and landed up with so many issues.

I've never had a BIOS update mess with anything. I don't overclock anything either. If you are able to see my PC Specs, I don't need to OC. . It's fast enough for me. . lol

I don't overclock anything either, except for my ram timings. I usually use the XMP profile. But then again you purchase an unlocked processor for a reason.

The recent UEFI updates for the voltage issues break mostly memory timings/voltages, It is not an uncommon thing with BIOS updates in general, particularly when it involves new microcode, which can change instruction timings and voltages and may require slight adjustments in memory timings and voltages. Just one of the things you have to deal with when overclocking memory. At least on Asus.

I just wanted to post my experience here with this bios, it might help somebody.


Last month (May) temperatures were pretty hot in my city (spring) when this bios was released, fans spinned fast so i assumed it was because of the weather and continue using my PC like i always do on spring (AN OVEN).

However right now summer arrived (June) and storms are very frequent here, there's also even some cold, but the fans keep spinning as faster as they did last month (literally a FRIDGE).

First i blame icue because when i was changing rgb colors fans started to getting more loud.

So i tried reinstalling Armory crate (i could reinstall the freaking thing so) i tried clean reinstalling windows all these past days just in case but problem was not solved.

I have a 13900k (no OC), Z790 hero max and i just asked the Google Gemini AI and it told me:

I just downgraded to 2801 and things are apparently normal again for me and my cpu of course.
