Hi, in my laptop i have only one 3.5mm audio jack. I use it for my headphones. So my question is, can i use my external microphone on this port?

The answer is almost certainly going to be, "Yes", but you ought to check the specs in your computer manual or on HP's website.

All the best,

It may be a TRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve) 3.5 audio jack.

Most modern laptops use this, and most smartphones as well!
You can get a adapter for cheap that converts it to 2 TRS jacks, one for the speakers/headphones, and 1 for mic.

What is the port of your Microphone? If it's USB, just connect it to one of your USB ports, If it's a 3.5mm jack, get a TRRS to 2TRS cable, and if it's a XLR connector, get a audio interface, it will connect thru USB.

On Notebooks it may be good to check Device Manager, Audio Inputs and Outputs, may have a built-in Microphone, mine with Win11 does.

Hani,

What do the specs in your computer manual or on HP's website say about the audio jack?

@Hani, It may possible that your laptop does recognise it, but as Speakers. If you play a sound, best case scenario, will do nothing, worse case scenario, will damage the mic.

The documentation on your laptop says it has a mic and a speaker out and it is made on one port. Can you try a phone headset that has 3.5mm audio jack and has a microphone? Make sure that it's TRRS not TRS. See my Post #3 above.
