I have the #4 hub and it works great on my desktop. I like that each port is switched, and I can leave my devices plugged in unless I need to use a port. Another plus is that I no longer have to plug and unplug my camera. I just have to hit the switch.

This is for UK 240V supply but they should be available for your local supply

That would be a much better way to power the stand. With all the fans and lights that would put a strain on the 5V 0.5A output from the laptop.

One should never spray anything on the screen or device. Always spray sparingly on a microfiber cloth. I use a premixed spray that is alcohol and ammonia free.
