Along with listing the backup&restore software, let's briefly list how when what why (in any order) we do our backups and restores.

Usually bi-monthly. activate Macrium Reflect and then Image For Windows after attaching designated usb 1tb hdd. MR and IFW each do a set of OS partitions - full images. Attaching a different ext usb hdd, MR and IFW each do a Data partition full image backup. Sometimes Cs are a week apart and Ds are a week apart.

Laptops, internal and external HDDs, OS and data partitions -- all are given unique 6-8 character names. No matter the drive letters shuffle, I know which partition from which int hdd is being backed up onto which ext hdd. I know which full image from which ext usb hdd is being restored into desired partition in desired int hdd.

I keep the amount of data on my C:\ drive as small as possible. Currently 37GB.

Then, whenever I'm gonna do something that might possibly cause issues... I make a full OS image backup.
When I get done doing something risky... I also make a full OS image backup.

With Macrium Reflect, it takes me 2.5 minutes to make a backup, and from the boot media, 2 minutes to restore from a backup.

I never do differential or incremental backups.

I actually do the exact same thing as you just posted. Only make Full image backups to a completely separate drive. My restore from my boot media does take longer than you thou, as my C-drive is 53gb

Every month im creating a full image of my system drives. Currently im running two gaming laptops and one (quite outdated) laptop
with an internal HDD only (no SSD). Im storing all image files on (total) three external drives (3,5 inch). These drives are only
for SSD/system images. And also: i'm never creating incremental or differential images of my system drives.

My second backup strategy:
(mostly) once a week im backing up my other files (all non system files) to (total) three external (portable) drives (2,5 inch).

For system images: Acronis True Image 2017.
For synchronization of (all non system) files with external drives: FreeFileSync and GoodSync.

Two years ago i had to use one of my full system images to restore one of my internal SSDs (in my msi GT72). Something went wrong after installing the monthly Windows Updates. I had to restore an image file. It was the first time in the past 10-15 years that i had to restore the entire partition.

Os -0 it gets backed up only when I'm fiddling around. Data - gets backed up every night.

Macrium for sheduled backups. Mac and CloneZilla for when I'm fiddling (like when I decide to install a leaked build of a new OS from Microsoft that hasn't even been officialy announced yet - that kind of fiddling).

I recommend full image backups of your OS partitions at least once a month if not twice a month. I have had my Windows 7 Professionals suddenly implode/explode without any prior fiddling or adjusting on my part.

No thanks. I don't need them. The OS is not the critical part, The data is.

I used to do imaging with Macrium Reflect once a month. But in the last few months, I have three Windows crashes and file system corruptions.

So I now do imaging every weekend. Even though I do not end up using them, it is good to have them around just in case. Once I do the monthly image, I move the weekly backups to an external drive.

I make an image backup at 9 AM every morning. I am reassured when I hear my big Toshiba 8TB drive chunking away at about 9:07. Lets me know I've got it covered if anything goes sideways later that day. =e=

I do system image backups consisting of 7 day chains of incrementals using AOMEI. Seems to work OK under W11 and yes I have tried a few restores. Also copy data regularly to flash memory and also use AOMEI's File Sync feature to back data up daily.

Has anyone manage to successfully restore a backup yet? I sure can not using EaseUS Todo.
It boots alright, but it can not find an image, it can not read C nor D partition. Because of TPM?

I upgrade Win10 19043.1081 to the Leaked build, then when I tried to use WU to update the leak to 22000.51 it failed - twice.

I then restored my backup from Macrium Home (v8) with 0 issues, and was able to take the WU Insider's Dev build of Win11 upgrade.

TPM has never played a factor in seeing attached drives for me - but Secure Boot has in the past, before I knew what I was doing.

I take you have already made current DVD or USB EaseUS ToDo boots. My MR7 had a similar problem, I had to use Win10PE instead of Win7PE to solve my situation. I'm wondering if using a WinPE version that has always worked for you in the past might solve your situation.

Interesting, but I guess it is not possible, since EasyUS uses linux in the free version and winpe in the paid version.
Using EmergencyDisk, I could only see USB and no other disk. I guess it is time to try out AOMEI Backupper.

I back up my system image (no user data) with Macrium Reflect before I do anything that might destabilize or corrupt the system, or do a significant installation, particularly software that cannot easily be backed out. This is a < 5 minute background task. I do this at least once per week, often multiple times per week. At the same time I sync my data, which resides on a separate partition than windows, to external disks (at least two copies - two always docked, two not docked in a box) with built in Microsoft robocopy. This is automated in powershell script so I just turn n the external HDD and start the script.

I have daily and weekly scripts run from the task scheduler that wake the computer from sleep early in the morning, then put it back to sleep when done. The weekly checks if there has been a backup in the last two days, and if not, creates a differential backup.

Have any of you though about what might happen with backups if your system is compromised or stolen? If someone gets hold of your unencrypted image backup, they can hack away at your system for passwords etc. at their leisure. I encrypt my system image backups (Macrium) and for my data, syncs, I encrypt the synced destination folders that contain sensitive information. I do the sync with robocopy. I also periodically copy recent system images to the external backup to protect against ransomware attacks.

I have done hundreds of restores with Reflect without a hitch.
