You do know that for people that don't understand OneDrive it is .......Confusing.

And, to the mention of those who do or don't understand how it works..., there's not much to understand, it's pretty straight forward..., just, the way it works is weird!
I imagine it's a great system for those lucky enough to have 6TB of storage! Probably invaluable to those who need/rely on it, collaborating professionals, and such.

That's the same reason why MS is defaulting peoples User Folders to OneDrive.

You only uninstalled the app. You still have the OneDrive Account on the MS Server.

Is there is a folder with the name Documents located at C:\Users\your user name? If there is try to rename it (for example: Documents1) and try the tutorial again.

It also preserves the original file if something was to go wrong. Files and folders can get permanently lost doing a move instead of a copy.

It ain't right! There should be untouched content on your PC and mirrors of it in the cloud! Period!

All I can say to that is that they don't know what they don't know. MS should be ashamed of themselves for not making OneDrive a option that user have to choose when setting up their computers.

They're getting aggressive with everything, Edge, OneDrive, hardware compatibility..., hell, next they'll be dictating what kind of Desktop background we can have!

That all depends on how you have OneDrive and syncing setup. If the files in the online OneDrive are setup to sync to the local OneDrive folder than any deleted fles from one location will also be deleted from the other location. Hopefully they can be recovered from the Recycle Bin. If someone doesn't know how to use OneDrive it can cause them some serious problems.

Many user are average users have joined the Forums because they don't know their way around computers. The average computer user that just wants to use a computer and not learn about computers shouldn't have to RTFM. MS should stop putting User Folders on OneDrive when users are first setting up there computers.

I do agree that those that have chosen to use OneDrive should RTFM. Those that got stuck with their files being on OneDrive because MS made that the default location shouldn't have to RTFM. MS should stop making OneDrive the default location when setting up a new computer.

First of all, no such folder exists on OneDrive...
secondly, I have one fecking lousy mp3, I want a spare copy of it in the Cloud, that's all!!! Is that such a hard task to accomplish without all the other dictatorship!?!?!?

When you lost your files on OneDrive did you go to your online OneDrive account and see if they were in the Recycle Bin?

My use of OneDrive is so I can access my files from my other computers and for some files on my phone. I also like that when I take a picture on my phone it gets sent to my Picture folder On OneDrive. I still make backups of my folders that are on OneDrive even though they are stored online and locally on my D drive.

I would not call OneDrive a backup either, it's a secondary copy. By default though, it does not remove local files. If you buy a new desktop computer, sign up for an MS account, and start using OneDrive on it, every single file you save in your C:\users\profile\OneDrive folder will by default be stored on the local C drive and will also be synchronized to the cloud. These files are in 2 places.

If I was to delete a file on OneDrive that is synced to my local OneDrive folder it would still be there?

I can give you one better. When I setup my wifes laptop I used my MS Account to set it and used her name as the user instead of my name and not thinking signed it in to my MS Account. The other day I deleted some files from my Onedrive because I no longer needed them. Believe it or not, the deleted files were in my wifes Recycle Bin. She is now signed-in to a local account.

I totally agree with that. I'm not totally against the two letter acronym. What I don't like about it is that the people behind it can use it to their advantage. Be it for good use or to push their ideas. What's going on with Google as an example. If AI can do the thinking how many employees are going to be out of work because they are no longer needed? and if computers are doing our thinking what's going to happen to the people who will be depending on their computers when they're in a situation that they can't use it.
