ok i was watching the news last week and fire prevention fireman they had on the news talked of not leaving phones plugged in over night and that is about the only time people can really charge them. so i figured out how to set my phones to do 85% charger to help prevent batteries for causing fires.

so now on the the pcs. we have 3 hp laptops now running win11 26h2 and i just got mind in the bios to do a setting that lets the battery charge to 80% or so. but on the other 2 hp pcs the bios does not have that feature. so will win11 do that for me in the settings?

so on a side note i now see 26h2 will end service on 2028. so now will our older pcs be able to run the new win what will that one be called win12? or are they just saying the built 26h2 will stop them and if we keep up on the builds we will be ok? i hate to have to toss out good pcs because they will not be able to run the newer software, i had to do that a few years ago when my pcs did not have some ability to run some malware stuff.

but for now the battery is the question. we leave them plugged in 24-7 so being mine seems to have that bios feature i can leave mine along but it the other ones the bios will not control the charge and is win11 can't i may take the batteries out of them as they do not move from there spots. thanks.

Every Windows 11 Version has an end date. Whatever follows 26H2 will have a later end date. That's how it has all worked for yonks.
if we keep up on the builds we will be ok?
Yes.

will our older pcs be able to run the new win what will that one be called win12
It might bE 27H2 for all we know.
People have been predicting the arrival of Windows 12 for ages.

will win11 do that for me in the settings
I have never heard of any utility to do that unless it was built into the Bios by the maker.
There have been reports by Dell & HP users that later models do not have that capability in the Bios. So perhaps Dell & HP decided that there was no benefit to them after all - Dell support definitely published a statement saying so a few years back.

i may take the batteries out of them
If you are never going to use them then you could choose to remove them.
I have never heard of that having any adverse consequences for a laptop.

well ok guys. then maybe the fire guys were poking at some type of prevention not knowing how these systems really work. i just set up our phones to do 80% charge but i have never had any issues, but again there is always a first time. anyway i will leave them be for now. thanks for the info.
