Hi,

What is the best media player for Windows 11, to play various media types as well as play DVDs and Blu-Rays? Anyone know if CyberLink PowerDVD is good and worth a buy?

I like PowerDVD. It plays Blu-ray, which VLC might not do. I'm not completely sure. For playing regular video files, I use VLC, though.

The best media player is the one that suits your needs in features, layout, organization, file support, and sound quality. For me, once I discovered JRiver Media Center, I found no need to look for anything else.

That said it is a paid program that favors those looking for audiophile quality. Also works extremely well with DACs.

Oh. Yes, that's not the best price. I think I purchased my version for 50% off when I bought it. You just have to keep an eye out for the good sales. Of course, if you don't need to play Blu-ray discs, something like VLC is great. As I mentioned, I use it for most videos I have. I only purchased PowerDVD for the Blu-ray capabilities.

OK, thanks i'll wait or ask if they could do a sale for 50% or more off :D

Hi,

What is the best media player for Windows 11, to play various media types as well as play DVDs and Blu-Rays? Anyone know if CyberLink PowerDVD is good and worth a buy?
I use PowerDVD because it has the best image quality and has a feature called True Motion which makes 24 or 30 FPS videos play smoother to play as if they were shot in a higher framerate giving them a more real-life effect. In addition, it supports every format there, video, image, audio, you name it. One player for everything.

I have a couple of older versions of PowerDVD that I have used and it is very good but I have no real need for it. VLC does most of what I want.

to play various media types as well as play DVDs and Blu-Rays?

Some of us missed this (I did) but the OP also mentioned Blu-Ray. Not everything plays Blu-Ray - JRiver Media Center doesn't (encrypted commercial releases), neither does Foobar. So, the real question is what's the best player that supports DVD and Blu-Ray playback? For me, I'd probably go with PowerDVD (used it before). Just need to make sure the rest of the PC supports B-R playback.

Anyway...

MPC boasts Blu-ray functionality but, I've never had a Blu-ray compatible optical drive so, I don't know for sure.
