"Best Media Player? ... That's an impossible question to answer...
Yup, you gotta try them yourself..., you can scour the internet for opinions but, in the end, you have to try them out for yourself.

I'm slowly accumulating a fair library of decent quality media files, running through a decent system with some decent outboard gear...,
... although, I do like to try out all kinds of software, for me, foobar and MPC-BE meets my needs for simple listening/viewing pleasure.

I'll also add a media player is also only as good as the files feed to it. If you have low quality/bad quality files, no media player (or hardware) is going to make them sound better.

As I learned during my DJing days (long before I got into computers) .... garbage in = garbage out.

I am now able to log on to my t-mobile account T-Mobile) on the computer As noted in my original Apr 14, 2022 and subsequent posts, none of my browser opened any t-mobile sites. Today, I am able to log in with all three browsers. Not sure what solved the problem. Perhaps the problem was fixed with the new build win 11 version 21H2 build 22000.739. Or, perhaps it was fixed when I ran a 7 hour Malwarebytes deep scan, which didn’t detect any threats. Or maybe the gremlin in the machine died of virtualCovid?

In the UK, it is legal to play rips of permanently acquired discs for personal use only.
And in many countries, such as the US, it's illegal to circumvent the encryption on cd's, DVD's and Blue ray disc.

And in many countries, such as the US, it's illegal to circumvent the encryption on cd's, DVD's and Blue ray disc.
You're not allowed to circumvent the encryption, but the grey-ish area of the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), also says it is acceptable make or transfer a copy to your computer if you already own the CD/music and copying is for personal use....

Copying CDs
  • It’s okay to copy music onto special Audio CD-R’s, mini-discs, and digital tapes (because royalties have been paid on them) – but not for commercial purposes.
  • Beyond that, there’s no legal “right” to copy the copyrighted music on a CD onto a CD-R. However, burning a copy of CD onto a CD-R, or transferring a copy onto your computer hard drive or your portable music player, won’t usually raise concerns so long as:
    • The copy is made from an authorized original CD that you legitimately own
    • The copy is just for your personal use. It’s not a personal use – in fact, it’s illegal – to give away the copy or lend it to others for copying.
    • The owners of copyrighted music have the right to use protection technology to allow or prevent copying.
    • Remember, it’s never okay to sell or make commercial use of a copy that you make.
Source: About Piracy - RIAA.

If you aren't selling or sharing across the world its fine.

I think all the hullabaloo started back when people used to rent a DVD at Blockbuster, or the corner store, and rip a copy for themselves.

Probably. Anyway, my main take is as long as you're not profiting from rips or taking away sales, they don't care if you rip.

Anyway, you already saw the collection I ripped :p

The OP appears to be from England. I dunno how much freedom you have if you're from the US of A, but it's probably not an actual lot. 🤷‍♂️

Why is a grey area? Under Fair Use, one can make a legal backup. It's bypassing the encryption that is illegal. Not all media content is encrypted.

There was also a lot of bootleg copies being sold.

I'm sure RIAA and The MPAA are not going to raid anyone's house for making backup copies. They want the ones that are profiting off the bootleg copies.

I think all the hullabaloo started back when people used to rent a DVD at Blockbuster, or the corner store, and rip a copy for themselves.
I once bought a movie on a DVD from a Flea Market. When we watched it, we could see the top of people's heads. Someone took a camera into a movie theater and recorded it.

Hi,

What is the best media player for Windows 11, to play various media types as well as play DVDs and Blu-Rays? Anyone know if CyberLink PowerDVD is good and worth a buy?
You could also try Apple's itunes from Microsoft store.

I wasn't aware iTunes "natively" supported Blu-Ray disk playback. I know it didn't when I used it (before the Microsoft Store) and thus why I bought Cyberlink.

Lowest quality popcorn on Earth too, IMHO.....
Sadly, it's the concession stand that brings in the profits for the movie theatres. Most of the price of the tickets only covers the cost that the theatres have to pay for the movie.
