Blu-Ray Internal and External Drives No Longer Play DVDs

As mentioned above, that is the only Registry entry I founf with both the UpperFilters and LowerFilters. The next closest one I found is in the attachment here. It mentions Media.

Not sure which one you should delete. In my case I was following online instructions how to detect and remove filters set by Nero after I had uninstalled the application. This had fixed my issues. You have to Google for instructions related to your specific application. Backup Registry in case you delete something you shouldn't.

Unless you have a good backup image, don't delete anything. My guess is that someting in the update has turned on a setting that is telling your computer that Blu-ray/DVD playback is prohibited. This is a Windows forum and not a video forum. I think your best bet is with the Videohelp forum. Be patient, it may take awhile to get a answer that will help. If your in a hurry, you could do a clean install. I hope you find a solution other than the clean install.
