Works fine in latest versions of both Edge and Firefox for me. I do not use Chrome.

Click and drag the address bar contents to the bookmark bar. In some browsers, you have to click and drag the padlock icon at the left of the address bar.

i'm using chrome.when i try to click and drag the whloe page moves.i don't have a lock on the left side.tryed on chrome and edge.

If you don't see the lock on the address bar use the method kelper mentioned. Ctrl + D

if i drag and drop it pulls the whole tab off the top of the page.tryed pressing ctrl+d .chose bookmarks bar. but it got sent to hidden bookmarks folder.

Don't drag the Tab, highlight the address in the URL bar and drag that to the Bookmarks Bar!
