Browser issues on Chrome and Edge

Hi,
I have searched for a solution to this issue without any luck. I have a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad. Both Chrome and Edge are laggy - particularly with sites that have any video content - this includes things like a hotel page which will open to a video of their location. It also appears randomly with regular sites.

I have no AdBlock or any other extensions on either browser. We had Comcast bring a brand new modem in case that was the cause - it wasn't. No other computers on our network have this issue. My 7 year old Dell Precision doesn't have this issue.

I actually bought a new Dell Precision last month, it had the slow browser problem. I spent hours with Dell ProSupport and they couldn't figure it out. I thought it must be something with Dell, so I returned it and tried a Lenovo. It is having the exact same problem.

Our internet speed is great, the connection between the computer and modem seems to be great. I have updated all the drivers. My old computer is in the same location as the new computer, and it absolutely flies on the internet.

The only difference that I can think is that the none of the other computers use the Intel "Ultra" processor.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Could anyone guide me on how to check all the internal settings of my computers so that I could compare them side by side to see what is coded differently on the settings?

I would appreciate any help please. Thank you.

Become familiar with the settings in both browsers. Make sure you're clearing cookies, history, etc. on browser close. By doing this and disabling things like pre-fetch, and other unnecessary "features", which in reality only slow browsers down, you should see better performance.

Enable Strict Tracking Prevention in Edge. Add Privacy Badger, µBlock Origin or Ghostery to Chrome, and Edge if you like. Some adblocking will help speed web page loads.

If you still have issues, you'll need to provide more info, like what settings you use in each browser.

I will give the features disabling a try. I should have said that I cleared history and cookies. I was trying to think of all details I could provide, and I knew I would forget something.
I haven't altered any settings in either browser. They were both slow as soon as I got the system running out of the box.
It is really interesting that you suggested some ad blocking. I will try that also and report back!

See if hardware acceleration is enabled in your browsers. If it's off, enable it to see if it makes a difference

Edge:
click 3 dots>settings>system & performance>graphics acceleration tab>toggle ON first 3 enties . I would leave "enhance videos" toggled to OFF.

Chrome:
  1. Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner to open the menu.
  2. Go to "Settings."
  3. On the left side, select "System".
  4. Under the "System" section, toggle the switch for "Use hardware acceleration when available" to ON or Off

Getting familiar with a browser's settings is essential for a variety of reasons, something that too many users ignore.
