What is this folder for? Can I delete it entirely.
Windows defender found virus in these folder.

yes it looks like the Windows 10 upgrade folder but as it comes back infected it would be a good idea to delete.

See if you have Windows 10 update Assistant app installed(or Windows Upgrade), and uninstall it, which automatically removes the folder.

Also is it OK to delete MountUUP folder? And if so how do I take full control of ownership of the folder?

That folder is created when you create an iso from UUP dump.

Normally it is cleaned up after the iso is created but if you exit before completion you can have the folder remain.

If you still have all the files and folders there will be a batch file in there that will clean all this up.

If you no longer have the files and the folder is locked it is most likely still mounted.

This command should unmount it.

DISM /Unmount-WIM /mountdir=C:\MountUUP /discard
