Can I restore a file from an over written partition?

I had to restore a saved system partition which has obviously over written everything on my C drive.
I've lost some files that where in my AppData/ Local/ Kemper Amps folder from before the restore.
I've tried several recovery programs with no luck.
Any suggestions (other than you should have backed them up) please?

doubtful. once overwritten with new data, its very slim odds to recover the old data. what programs have you used so far?

Disk Drill, Easeus and another which I cant remember.
I've lost the 3 or 4 days work that I did just before the crash and recovery, which will be difficult to recreate.
Only found out after that the local files to the Kemper program were kept in the AppData folder and not my docs folder where the rest of the program saves stuff. I know now:(

disk drill is pretty in-depth. if that found nothing (or was unable to salvage files), its highly unlikely that you will be able to do so..

best practice to make system image clones or backups of your user profile data for future instances, btw

only if you are lucky and the files you want havent been overwritten. You could try active@filerecovery, run it from a different disk/winpe and if it finds what you want need to buy a license to do the recovery.

Not for main backups, but for little things that change... often, like App Data.

One of the "jobs" I give Karen's is to save my Icewind Dale save game folder, for the same reason you posted.
It's no problem to go back a month of so in Windows (for me), but losing a month of serious gaming... that's a serious problem. :D

Karen's does everything, has a sensible GUI... maybe I'm just getting old. LOL

something i use is file recovery. its in the control panel and it can copy all files to an external drive on a schedule.
its limited in scope but it does backup personal files to another location. its set and forget, until you need it.
