I know that our computers can be set to hibernate after being in sleep mode for a predetermined amount of time, but can we set a computer to shut down after being in sleep mode? I tried to Google the subject, but all it talked about was going into hibernate. I would think that there would be an option to simply shut down. That would be better for solid-state drives anyway.
The reason I ask is because my computer sometimes goes into what is called a "black screen of death" where my monitor just goes completely black but the computer is still on. I can put it into sleep mode simply by closing the lid. But I can't shut it down without crashing it. I was thinking maybe I could just have it sleep where it would then automatically shut down later on and then everything would be OK after that.
