If I connect the other PC to Ethernet I can see its shared folder

Here are the connections when desktop-TF9VA2R is on wifi:
I can see it in networks from win11mk but I get a error "windows cannot access \\desktop-TF9VA2R" if I try to access it
I cannot see win11mk from desktop-TF9VA2R though

and when it is on ethernet:

Also noticed I cannot see all my other wifi devices like TV's from desktop-TF9VA2R when it is on wifi but I can when it is wired

Out of interest; Go into Windows File Explorer, at the bottom left, click on “Network” see if the laptop/computer shows on the right, click on it and see if it asks you for credentials (login and password) enter them.
Then try \\COMPUTERNAME again (whatever it’s called)

The only thing I have ever had to turn on to connect to \\COMPUTERNAME is network discovery. And of course logging in with the Username/Password (Once) to the computer in question.
Maybe I’ve just been lucky?

  1. Open Settings with the WIN+i shortcut or search for it from the taskbar.
  2. Select Network & internet on the left side and then Advanced network settings on the right side.
  3. Choose Advanced sharing settings.
  4. Select the button next to Network discovery to turn it on or off.

It did ask for user/pwd before I changed the setting to not require a login but I still could not login because there was no user/pwd on the other PC

This is the propblem I would suspect.

You need to have one to my knowledge to use \\computername and to have logged into that computer using user/pass at least once. Then you can revert that computer to logging in however you had it before
I don’t know of any other way to allow access

How do you login to the other PC currently, Windows Hello?

In short;
Get on the other PC
Create a Username & Password (I am trying to find a tutorial)
Log in to the PC using username/Password
Go to other PC
Try logging in again via Network in Windows File Explorer, it should ask for credentials, insert the user/pass
Now try \\computername

(Network discovery needs to be on)

I am not great with networking, it’s my weakest point. But I can assure you this is what I had to do on a fresh install of my PC and Laptop. Nothing more nothing less.

I setup a user/pwd on the other PC and it still doesn't work when on wifi (Cannot access ...).

I logon manually via a pwd now

In the end, if it doesn’t work. Denis posted a list in post 4.

The only time I needed that list was when I was trying to setup a different access method (I forget which one).

It was the firewall on the wifi PC
I'd like to learn from your experience.
What was it in the firewall that was blocking your network?
Please explain in enough detail for me to find the relevant setting.

Oh, and welcome to ElevenForum.

It's really worth making time to browse through the ElevenForum Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every ElevenForum page [within the Tutorials dropdown list].
- At the foot of the ElevenForum Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
- I download a new copy each month.
- By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
- ElevenForum tutorials are also listed at Tutorials and there's a shortcut to that at the top of every page.

You can search ElevenForum using the search box in the top-right corner of all ElevenForum webpages or using Advanced Search - ElevenForum
- You can also search ElevenForum threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:elevenforum.com after your search term. For example,
Taskbar setup site:elevenforum.com
- [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of ElevenForum webpages does automatically]
