Casting Help Needed Please

I use to be able to cast a video by means of Chromecast. I now have New PC and New TV and I am suppost to cast a video or anything by means of Microsoft "Movies & TV" but its not that simple and looking for a media player that is user friendly and easy to handle. MS Movies & TV keeps my pc a mess as it has my screen TV listed twice, Any advice of a GOOD media player to cast a video on my TV please?

Do you want to cast just a movie or the whole laptop desktop?

Here is how I cast the whole laptop desktop to my TV using Miracast.
The PC is a 2022 ASUS Laptop. The TV is a 2024 Samsung 55" Smart TV.

In System tray select WiFi Icon. Select Cast. Note if you can't find Cast you will have to add it.

Select TV to cast to

In popup on TV screen select Allow

If the OP has a Chromecast-enabled TV then he can use something like VLC. Otherwise he will have to use Miracast like I do.

I no longer have a HDMI Portal in back of my New TV, So I can;t use my Chromecast no longer as I only have 2 HDMI portals or connection in back of tv.
So i Cast of Viodeo by means of my Laptop through MS Movies & TV which is like MS Media Player but newer.
Can;t use VLC cause I can't use Chromecast

Please confirm what you mean. Those 2 statements contradict each other. If you have no hdmi port on the back of TV, then what kind of graphics input does it have. There are cables that can solve the problem.

The poster has not mentioned what other devices are connect to TV hdmi ports.
I've never used one but would an 4k powered hdi switch work? I would consider what other inputs was already connected to the TV to determine which inputs worked through the switch and which inputs worked wired direct. I'm may be way off base but how about something like this>

You should simply be able to use the PC (and allow a media folder) as a media server and if your TV is connected to the same network, the TV should see your PC’s media folder to play movies in it..

I’ve been running the same OS install (Upgrade from Windows 10) so it's been a while, I forget the process I used, but I believe this should work. But I use Plex so I don;'t have this problem
There are a lot of words below but not really a lot of simple steps to follow.

Turn Your PC into a DLNA Media Server (Using the "Videos" Folder)

Step 1: Enable Media Streaming (DLNA Server)

Press Windows + S, type "Media streaming options", and open it.
Click "Turn on media streaming".
Name your media server if prompted (e.g., "Artic-Media").
Set "Show devices on" to All networks, and allow your TV.
Click OK to save.

Step 2: Confirm “Videos” Folder is in Your Library

Open File Explorer.
In the left sidebar, expand Libraries
Right-click Videos > Properties.
Ensure the Videos Folder s is listed. If not, click Include a folder and add it.

Step 3: Enable Network Sharing

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > More network adapter options.
Right-click your active connection > Properties.
Make sure File and Printer Sharing and Network Discovery are turned on.
Also check Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings:
- Enable Network Discovery
- Enable File and Printer Sharing
- Enable Media Streaming

Step 4: Access the Server from Your TV

Ensure your TV and PC are on the same network (Wi-Fi or LAN).
On your TV, open the Media Player or DLNA/Network section. Could be called pictures & movies or similar , I don’t know as I don't know your new TV’s brand and model number to try look it up for you
Look for your PC (e.g., “Artic-Media”) and browse the Videos folder.
Select and play the content.

Notes:
- Restart your PC and TV if the server doesn’t appear.
- For subtitles and better compatibility, consider an alternative media server, like Plex or something else. I use Plex, have done for years. I can access all my stuff on ANY device in my home (And when away if you pay — otherwise for home use it’s free, but Plex is yet another learning curb).
