Centurylink Email Not Accessible

I am putting this here, as it is Internet connected; move elsewhere if needed.

This morning I found that I cannot log on to Centurylink Email. I am attaching an image of what I see, which to me is perhaps indicative of someone carrying out one of the very frequent emails I get threatening to close the account. I always mark them as spam and delete them. My first inkling of a problem is when, in Mail Washer, I clicked on Wash Mail, which proceeded to delete over two hundred messages, and then when I would try to restore a few from the Recycle Bin, the result was 0 of X restored.

Scans by Malwarebytes and Windows Anti-Virus turn up no problems, which does not surprise me as I have seen no notifications from either.

One oddity is that my wife sent me a test message, which somehow I was able to see, but how I did so has been forgotten as I have been trying to find out what is causing the block and how to fix it. Obviously I have found no such item. I was able, apparently to send myself a test message, but of course I can not access.

Knowing that I will not see any email letting me know that I have one or more replies, I shall log on here from time to time to check.

(A few minutes later) That just shows me how befuddled I am, given that there is a forum for Browsers and Mail. I shall leave it to someone with a front-end loader to pick this up and deliver it to there.

I had the same issue with my yahoo mail once. I contacted support and helped me unlock my account.

Thanks, but I had tried that, only to find the link in that page to get you to "read more [etc.] is caught by Malwarebytes, with :Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG."

I never bothered to set up the suggested recovery method, nor do I see the message that CLink says you will see about compose/send feature has been disabled. As I stated above, the test message that I sent appeared to have been transmitted, but obviously I cannot check that.

My wife just told me that one of her fellow teachers was having CLink problems, but that is all she told me about the other teacher's woes.

If I could access Clink email support, they might be able to assist, but at least a few hours ago, that was inaccessible. For that matter, I have tried Clink chat several times over the past few months to inquire about my not being able to use the Troubleshooter, which claims that the account number is wrong. I find that more than a bit confusing, as the page I see when I log on to run the shooter, shows the account number, a number that also appears on the monthly bill.

From what I'm understanding from what you have written, there's not much we can do to help you. You will have to work it out with CenturyLink. They have chat and phone support listed here Contact Us

None of those work! I managed to log on to one site by disabling Malwarebytes, where I got Chat to work, if you want to call it that: I entered a request three times, each time it told me to request a form or such, but all that does is to put some disconnected circling lines on the chat screen.

Horribly frustrating, and I do understand that this forum may not be able to help me; I can only help that someone who can stumbles across the plea. I wonder if there is a site than assist, but I would not even know how to search for something of that nature.

Our home has Century Link, but the Wi-Fi wired into the house is called Quantum Fiber. At our old house we had Century link for Ethernet. Changing to a new residence, and trying to change billing address (and computer access) was a nightmare, We found they had two numbers....one for customers, but of course that wasn't the one we had to get in contact with them. My husband went to one of their offices to find out how they could help us; that's when he was told of the other office....the one for customer service! Good luck with where you live

You are told that email support is only handled by centurylink.com/email, which gets this truly helpful information, Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG.

So you don't have the option to speak to a live person at Centurylink?
Time to ditch them altogether and find yourself a new email client.

The problem with that is the very large number of vendors and others who have my email address; changing them would be very difficult, partially as I cannot access my email to see anyone who I would need to change would very possibly be missed.l

It is not that I don't appreciate the advice, it is just that I am in the hope that I can, instead fix the problem. As it happens, one of the people on another site trying to help asked me if I had ever clicked on the box in the I see when I try to access email, an image that I immediately suspected is spam even though I never seen anything of this nature. I had to tell him that I did not think I had done that I could not be certain.

This gives me a new quest, trying to find out how to get rid of spam. I had hoped that one of the six or so scanner I had run would find whatever my spam, if I may call that, but despite most of the scanners finding things to remove, none of them found the culprit if that is in fact what needs to be removed so that I may again read email.

On the other hand, assuming that access can be restored, I am certain I don't to see what by now must be a very large collection of unread emails.

Here is some stuff I mention in no particular order.

In “Network & Internet Settings, turn OFF “Automatic proxy setup” turn off the toggle for “Automatically detect settings.”
Worth a try.
Try your email account again.

Can you access the mail from any other computer or device, like your phone?

I don’t see where you mention what email client you use to access your mail.

How many email addresses are you allowed to setup in your Centurylink account?
Are you able to setup a new (second) email address?
Can you do so and see if it works normally?

Remove Malwarebytes for the purpose of seeing if that helps.
Stop using Mailwasher.

Is there a webmail link you can use to check your mail account online?

Did I read you say that Centurylink is failing to find your account number, that same account number that you use to pay your bill? Or did I misunderstand that?

Try setting up your email account in a different email client, like em-client or Thunderbird.

I would forward all emails to my new email, such as Gmail, and just use my new email. When someone sends email it would automatically forward to the new email. When I reply, I would add a message to my signature stating the new email.

I appreciate your taking the time, but sadly I can report that I already know that I cannot use those sites.

Yesterday, I remembered having once seen a reference to a Centurylink message site. I found it, and started an exchange of messages, when I was returned to the first item you see when you start a conversation, so I started a second conversation, and after that a third. When that did the same thing of restarting a conversation, I quit.

Would you not do that from Thunderbird, which, if so, I cannot do?

I don't remember exactly how, but you can set a rule all messages received from CenturyLink server (all Inbox) to send a copy to another address.

Computer returned from repair shop, with a 15% discount on an extremely reasonable fee for my having been a first responder as a fire chief.

It will take me some time to get everything back to "normal," that word in quotes as I make no claims to being normal.

I was a previuus subscriber to Centurylink from 2013 to 2018 by necessity. Recommend choosing another provider when possible.
