I have had this issue for a number of years, and that is that 4 game controllers - 3 from Virpil and 1 from Toal Controls - stop my PC from sleeping if they are plugged in.
It is only those 4 that do it. Others from Logitech, Thrustmaster and Microsoft are OK.
Now, for a few months recently, the issue went away. But, now it is back. I even did a clean install of W11 and without any drivers, etc. the issue was there.
over the time, I have done everything to try and understand why this is happening, but no resolution at all. So, I'm posting this thread in the vain hope that someone might have an idea on this.

Windows Build/Version
2623.870 but this has happened with dozens of builds

Withe the devices plugged in that prevent sleep run the following command.

Code:
powercfg /requests

If anything is reported back, those items indicated are preventing sleep

Yep, tried all that stuff. Nothing ever shows in that command.

You may want to grab usbview from the windows sdk and see if the root hubs allow for sleep

Have you checked the power management settings for each hub/ port in device manager?

Thanks guys. The PC sleeps OK if I disconnect the devices I mentioned, so I can only assume the root hubs allow sleep.
Yes, I’ve checked all power management tabs, and they are set correctly.

I'm not surprised that no one has come up with anything to help solve this. What does surprise me though is that there is no diagnostic tool to tell why Windows is prevented from answering the call to sleep.

I gave up on trying to determine why my PC doesn't auto-hibernate as configured in power settings. I wrote a short AutoHotkey script to make this happen, but it doesn't look at the overrides you can see with powercfg. It just uses the AHK built-in variable A_TimeIdle. I haven't tested it with sleeping, which I don't use, but I can post it if hibernation is OK or you want to try to modify it for sleep.

Thank you, but I’m afraid that won’t help me.
I said above that I never have anything showing in powercfg, but the main issue is that I have 2 backups running during the night at 2am and 6am. If my PC is put to sleep, then after the first backup, it would never return to sleep.
