Solved Changing desktop icon text color

Windows 11 in VirtualBox
For those wishing to change the desktop icon text color you can do these steps.
Start button> Settings> type: Advanced system settings
Double click on the result. Next click on the Advanced tab.
Performance> Settings button
Uncheck the box next to: Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop
Click the OK button

Next download the free Iconoid (64-bit) program. I used Free Software Downloads and Reviews for Windows, Android, Mac, and iOS - CNET Download then did a search at the top for the program.
Once installed and open you will Text Color.
Change to what you want such as Black.

You can also use this to save the position of your desktop icons.
I use DesktopOK for that but Iconoid still works in Windows 11 as long as you do not have too many icons.

Where are the settings to change the text color?

Thanks. I uninstalled the newer version and restarted then downloaded the qttabbar ver 1038

It's hidden in the File/Alt menu until you initialize it, as it is a standalone executable...

I do not see what you have. I have pressed the Alt key. Are you using 3rd party software to bring back the File, Edit, View, Tools etc menu bar?
I am using Windows 11 Home and from what I read as seen below there is no File, Edit.... and View has no QTTabBar.
It would be a great idea for the maker of QTTabBar to put a desktop icon and a link in the Apps like most other programs instead of trying a secret handshake to enable the program.

Bobhe | Microsoft Community Support Specialist: In Windows 11, Microsoft ditched the traditional File, Edit, and View toolbars and introduced a centered Start menu and a simplified taskbar. Unfortunately, there's no built-in option to restore the old toolbars in Windows 11.

Instructions:
  1. Install QTTabBar Version 1038
  2. Install QTTabBar version 1040 as update (there is a beta for Windows 11 which may work better)
  3. Restart explorer
  4. Enable QTTabBar
    1. On File Explorer, go to View → Options → QTTabBar
    2. On Windows 11, a new instance of Explorer has to be opened from the new one to enable it.

I have tried the latest version QTTabBar 2048 Beta 2 at Filehorse. Installed and ran both files. Sign out and back in and nothing.

It looks like QTTabBar does not work in the latest version of Windows 11.
