Hi folks, I had this problem that Chrome was very slow to load, about 2secs. I tried various things like disabling extensions, clearing cache etc. I found the solution was to rename the user data folder located in:
Users>Username>AppData>Local>Google>Chrome
Now it is back like lightning. If you ever have to do this make sure you sync everything you want before renaming to save having to change basic settings back to how you want them

Hi Jeff, mine was fine until a couple of days ago then when I clicked the icon it went to a white screen then it would load with a dark theme then eventually it went to the custom theme. Now like you mine is instant. I think it just got a bit overloaded with time and use

I just redid it and I got a white screen but then it went to the usual for me. And I got the same with Edge.. so it's something 'new' or a bug in the core code

Funny you should say that, I thought I was getting paranoid as Edge seemed slower but not as bad

They both have that white screen when the start and both just had updates recently. I suspect a bug is present

Sounds about right Jeff. at least mine is gone now on Chrome, Edge is nothing like as bad, just a quick flash of white. Maybe the same fix is needed (at your own risk :ROFLMAO:)

I just found another thing with Chrome, after I got rid of the user data folder, it created a new one and that enabled let chrome apps run in the background, if I turn that off it does slow down a tad but not as bad as it was

I read to fix slow Chrome >users>username>appData>local>google>chrome.
I clicked on chrome and it was data and rename the folder.
It seems faster but can I leave the name changed?

I am editing; I did label the folder after Chrome which was data I think -I put a 1 after it. Now Chrome is normal but the 1 is gone after a restart.
I don''t know if this did it but Chrome is normal and the 1 is gone.
