A few months ago I purchased a Dell Inspiron 3530 laptop. Nice machine but a bit bloated as usual so I decided the time was now right to do a clean install. It's been on the Release Preview cycle and had got to the current 24H2 level 26100.2152 with no real issues.
The clean install went well. Seemed much better - C drive much reduced in usage, used memory at start up down 1-2 GB etc. But a couple of things had changed.
I've always shared the D drive on my machines so that I can transfer data between them, and I've always had the machines in the house with the network set to private and not public. But after the clean install, the laptop's D drive could not be linked to. Eventually I had to set it to public so that the link would work. A second real issue was with the Skygo application which we use here in the UK to watch TV programs from Sky. After the re-install it just locks up once you select as program and appears to be looping. Wife's desktop PC, which I'd clean installed a couple of days earlier (with pemission!) now had the same problem. So different hardware completely, but same problem.
Having taken Macrium backup images, I temporarily restored that on the desktop and now Skygo works again. Also restored the image on the laptop and Skygo now works again also. In both cases old and new software levels are 26100.2152 with no tweaks or mods.
And having reset the laptop back, I couldn't link its D drive until I set the network back to private.
So I'm concerned that a clean install to same level as already exists results in signifcant changes like this.
Anyone else experienced this?
