Have you given any thoughts on leaving the partition and using the D drive as your data drive? I have two drives in my desktop, and I moved my user folders to drive D Using the method I linked to about moving the Music folder. I use Drive C for Windows and programs. My data goes to drive D.

How do you transfer Docs, Music, Vids Pics, Download folders to D? Is it complicated?

You unplug it after the computer reboots and before it restarts.

Most modern PC won't boot from the USB anyway, you'd need to press F12 and choose to boot from usb. By default they boot from the hard drive. You could probably just leave it in, but if you want to remove it, then the time is when the install says for the first time that its about to restart.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Carefully read the tutorial I posted. Basically, what you do is go to the D drive and create a new folder for every folder you want to move. For example, if you want to move your Documents folder make a folder on the D drive named Documents. then go to the C drive and right click on the Document folder and select Properties. Then click on location > Move then select the Documents folder on drive D and click on select folder > Apply.

The old folders will still be on the C drive. Leave them there.

When you did the move folder did you click on Apply?

Thanks. I shall it give it a retry. I moved 1 to test, i.e Documents from C: Windows to D: Data.

look in C:\ Users\Your User Name. I have moved the circled folders to my D drive.User Folders.jpg

Why C: Documents to D: Data? Shouldn't it have been from C: Documents to D: Documents?
