Solved Clean install?

As I stated, library folders get removed from C:\Users\username when I move them. The trick is to answer yes to the dialog box that pops up when it asks you if you want to move files.

They do get shifted to D, but still can see in C?
When I save a pic or screenshot get saved in both Pictures folders in C and D.

Yes, that's normal. Although they're physically located on D, you still have links to them under C and quick access.

No, it will only save them to D, as I said above what you see in C and quick access are just links to the library folders on D.

I never had that happen on my computers. When you check the properties of the folders on your C drive where does it say the folder is located?

When you open C:\Users\Your User Name\Photos you see the same file that you see if you open D:\Photos?

Now after a clean install all going to C: and later would create D through disk management than would add the Data folders giving them the path.

BTW, merging, creating a new through disk management isn't that complex, even without out Minitool wizard.

Now I am getting the feel of W7, W11 is great.

Through all of your trials and errors you are learning more and more about computers. :) IMHO, hands on learning is way better than learning from a book.

I regard secondary drives as safer for your personal data for the following reasons.

Secondary drives usually do less work and therefore less prone to failure.
They are also less likely to be compromised by malware.
Your data is also immune to an operating system failure.

Another thing with storing data in the Windows system folders is that in the event of an operating system failure, it can sometimes be harder to retrieve your data, as Windows security can make it more difficult for you to gain access to it.

I agree. But I don't have the luxury of a 2nd drive on my laptop. Just 1drive, on which I could create a partition.

Another plus for keeping data on a separate drive or partition. It keeps your backup images smaller. On my desktops I have a drive for the OS and a drive for my data. On my laptop I use two partitions. I try to make weekly backups of the C drive. Sometimes I get busy and forget. With my D drive I make a back every month or two. I also make automatic weekly backups of my important data files.

That's right it decreases the size of full backups. Have you ever restored to check how good are the backups. I used to on W7....
Do use use recue media to restore?
