Computer becomes almost unusable with any external drive plugged in...

It doesn't matter if it's an android phone, fire tablet, usb hard drive, or external SSD... C: Drive immediately goes 100% and certain functions do not work such as the volume tab. Transfer speeds lock, computer takes an eternity to open a browser tab, but the rig doesn't crash.

The second I unplug the device the computer runs normally.

I want to assume it's because I'm asking too much of my 5950x or Aorus Master X570 motherboard already having 4 NVME's, GPU, Wifi card, and an SSD inside.
If that IS the case then I could upgrade to 2 4tb nvme drives instead of 4 2tb drives?

What is not mentioned is the size of the Power Supply in the case. With what you listed may need more than 600 Watts. I have 3 USB 3 HDDs and 1 USB 3 dual-port drive dock continuously plugged into a 4-port USB 3 Self-powered Hub for them.

No, a 5950X isn't too feeble for those drives.

Sorry, forgot to say the 3 drives [2 x 4TB] and drive dock also have their own power supply and the Hub is using only 1 port on the computer for data. The 3rd drive is a WD My Passport and uses only 1 USB 3 port on the Hub.

I doubt it’s your motherboard. Boot into safe mode and see if if still does that

Looks like the chipset driver needs updating and maybe the USB driver (if any). Go at www.amd.com go to downloads and manually download the latest chipset driver for 570 chipset. Install the chipset driver first and then the USB (if any). Restart the computer and see if the issues has fixed.
