My computer keeps pasting 11111... in any input box. I have isolated my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and it is not them. A ny ideas?

Isolated them how?

Try disconnecting them and open the onscreen keyboard, does it still happen? If so can you see which key is lit up when it does happen?
Also, have you remaped any keys?

If you have, run one of these:

Remove Key Remaps (Scancode Mappings)

Seems like some key stuck on the keyboard. Usually fixed by pressing them one-by-one. If the key that does that is pressed and returns back to the "un-pressed" state, it should stop. If it is a letter or number you can see which one by opening Notepad and you should see a series of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where X is the stuck key.

As @antspants asked, How did you isolate the keyboard and mouse? To me it sounds like the #1 key is sticking.

I isolated the wireless keyboard and mouse by turning them off. The issue continued.
I have never remapped any keys.
It still happens with the on board keyboard in play. Not showing any lit key.

Is it possible that the onboard keyboard could be running in the background? The problem does sound like a stuck key.

Hi, Rod.

That command is safe to use regardless, even if there is no remap. Wouldn’t hurt.


Try Booting into Safe Mode
Use Safe Mode to diagnose input issues without third-party drivers or services interfering.
Safe Mode loads only essential drivers and services.
If the issue disappears in Safe Mode, it's likely caused by a third-party driver, app, or service.
Use Autoruns or Task Manager > Startup to disable suspect items.


From Windows
  • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  • Go to the Boot tab.
  • Check Safe boot and select Minimal.
  • Click OK and restart.

To exit Safe Mode later:
  • Repeat the steps above and uncheck Safe boot.
  • Restart again.

Or from Recovery Menu
  • Hold Shift and click Restart from the Start menu.
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  • When prompted, press 4 for Safe Mode or 5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

SFC & DISM
If phantom input persists and may be linked to a recent Windows update or system instability, run the following commands to repair system files.

Command Prompt (Run as Administrator):
Code: 
sfc /scannow

Once complete, run:
Code: 
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Each scan may take several minutes.​
Reboot after completion.​

Another thing to try, temporarily create a new user and see if the issue persists in the new profile. Just to find out if this is profile based and tied to your account..
