Conflict with Win11 upgrade requirments.

He also needs to have a disk for mobo drivers and the chipset (or download the latest versions). Plus update BIOS.

Always a consideration although not always essential. A good practice though. Also good to go to manufacture's web site for updated drivers and UEFI updates.

I'm old, I'm tired and I've got no time for all the mumbo jumbo that MS wants to put us through, just to install an OS.
Then I read instructions here, to do this, do that, turn on this, turn off that, jump through this hoop, and, and, and, and.
It goes on for pages. It's enough to make an old Computer tech vomit!

I can install the core of Windows 11 on just about anything in my house, but the fridge. (it's not 64 bit)
The PC I'm on now, is so old, if it were any older, it would be using vacuum tubes.
I've condensed the entire Win-11 install process down to three simple steps.
At 80 yrs old, I've installed Win-11/Pro/64 16+ times now, with never a flop or failure.
When a Win-11 ISO is burned to a Flash Drive using Rufus, all the MS BS is removed leaving only the Win-11 OS.
And it will install and run just great, just like it's running here for me, right now.

We're having a great Canada Day here, MageMeister. I heartily agree with you about Win 11 in this regard. I jumped through the hurdles for that official install on Microsoft's page to get it to run on my TPM 1.2 platform and I can assure anyone that it was no fun at all and hardly worth the effort. Rufus makes the install so much easier. Fortunately, there are some cats out there who offer pre-tweaked versions of it on their web sites. (Not naming any names here, of course.) You could probably install some of those on your favourite vacuum cleaner if you wanted to.

I'm not nearly as old as you but I'm already getting to the "why do I even bother" stage. I'm going to stick with the hardware I have, tubes, coils, and spinning rust for as long as it lasts. My enthusiasm for new hardware has all but fizzled out. What will I need it for? Chat jee-pee-tee?? I don't need it. No, I'm from another time when men were men and I wore the pants. (The wife was always sure to tell me which pair to put on.) I figure if I make it to see your 80 years I won't give a flying rip about staying plugged into the Matrix or whatever the moguls will be doing on the net by then. I can only hope that Linux will still be around by then because I won't have much use for Windows at that point. Let the parade march on. I'm staying indoors with a nice hot cup of Java.
