Convert mimg. (Macrium) Images into VHD, Possible?

Sup peeps?

Well... basically the title. I'm looking into converting some old images I keep for archive / sentimental reasons, so I can read them in the future or extract info if I need it. Obviously Maccrium format only works with Macrium... is there any way I could convert said image formats into VHDs? Supposedly you can with ViBoot, but requires Hyper V (Disabled in my system) or VirtualBox (I need to install it... no problem except I already have VMWare Workstation... so means more bloat lol)

Any advice in this regard?

A workaround if you are confident with your backups and you have the time:
1. make a full backup of your system
2. restore the old image
3. create the VHD
4. restore the full backup

Repeat steps 2 & 3 for each old backup.

That's a good idea, except that would make a lot of read and write wear into my main SSD... given how are things nowadays with prices, would be a bit of a suicide to do that lol.

If you are able to mount the macrium image you could capture the mount to .vhdx using wbadmin commands

if you can't mount the image you could create a vhd in diskmgmt and restore the macrium image to it

Modern SSDs are extremely write resilient. The days of worrying about wear and tear is long gone.

Very few ssds actually ever run out of write life. They fail for more mundane random reasons e.g. failure of electronic components.

Worrying about this sort of failure is pointless as it can happen (more importantly WILL happen) but you have no idea when. It could be a week or years.

So there is no point in worrying about sny failure but just make sure you have backups.

That creates a .vhdx file and is probably the simplest method. You can choose where to store the .vhdx file
