Can't see any bloody-mindedness about this at all. I'm totally averse to installing anything from the Store, get anything I need direct from the source, and if it's a Microsoft machination only available through the Store, then I don't want/need it (And yes, I can see the irony, that last bit probably is a bit bloody-minded ... but Microsoft is inclined to make you feel that way, at times)

She appeared to want Copilot, but wouldn't install it if it wasn't included in the Windows install.

(Editorial comment: I keep Copilot. I use it as a search tool when I feel that my inquiry is too complex for a simple keyword search. It's too bad that the search can be unreliable, and results must be regarded with suspicion.)

Apologies I maybe didn't word the initial post well. It wasn't that I wanted it exactly - I was just concerned that it was missing from a new install and thought there was something wrong with the install. As it turns out there isn't, and it surprised me to find Microsoft would release a recovery install without copilot as part of it. As they have, and co-pilot now seems to be optional and available from the Microsoft store, I'm just "opting" not to install it - unless or until I think I need it

My post title was "Copilot missing in 23H2" - it didn't actually say I wanted it! Just that it was missing!

Maybe it wasn't a bug. Been reading a bit about why it was removed from images. It suggests Microsoft had to make it optional. Further info on this thread here. Anyway - I have just uninstalled it on my main laptop as well, from app settings - just like any other app as you say.
