Copy and paste feature of Win 11 not Working

Went to settings and got this response:
No results for Windows Clipboard | Trend Micro Service Central
What I meant was, have you looked through your Trend Micro Maximum Security settings to see if there is a setting in there that could be interfering with your copying and pasting? It appears that some Trend Micro applications monitor data to be transmitted to Windows clipboard before allowing or blocking the transmission.

Another option is to temporarily disable Trend Micro Maximum Security to see if it fixes your issue.

Hi Cereberus,
As I am not a computer tech, my ability to try this is limited.
Can I find out where to learn how to do this or can you explain it to me "in 'layman's" terms, please.

Yes, I have Trend Micro Maximum Security running.
You do not need any 3rd party Anti-Virus/Security software. Windows Security (Defender) is all you need it comes with Windows and it's free. 3rd party apps can block some functions, report false positives and have a larger footprint.
We strongly suggest uninstalling Trend Micro with their tool
After restarting the computer, see if that improves the situation.

I've had Trend Micro for over 10 years and have never had a single problem.
As the saying goes...enjoy what you have !
I know about Defender but prefer staying with Trend Micro.

Hi dacrone,
Thanks for this suggestion, which I think might be my last resort to fix the issue.
As I am not a very knowledgeable computer user to this level I am a bit leery to proceed to try this.
Though I will view the video and read up on it to see if this is something I can try on my own, or find a computer geek who can help me with this.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

We? I think you mean some of us. Some of my computers use 3rd party protection and some use Windows Defender. They all have their pluses and minuses. One should use what ever they feel confident with .

@Tegiro The repair install that @dacrone suggested is not as scary as it looks. What most if not all of us suggest is to always have a up to date system image before you try anything. Even without making any major changes it still a good idea to have a up to date system image in case something serious happens to your system.

Hello Winuser,
Which one should I use:
  • Option One: Repair Install Windows 11 using Windows Update
  • Option Two: Repair Install Windows 11 using ISO or USB Installation Media
I always use the ISO from MS.

Edit: The way I do it is to save the ISO to my computer and mount it in File Explorer. It doesn't need to be on a USB drive unless you want to use it on another computer.

The useful Posts are #6, #8, #19, #21

"For instance I can copy and past "Files" to Word's new document.
However if I try to past that same "File" to a new yahoo email body it pastes the "file" content as opposed to just the file name itself....strange."

That is a clue that it is actually Trend Micro Maximum Security's clipboard security monitoring, as mentioned in post #19, #21
You have to look through Trend Micro Maximum Security's settings to find out.
Whatever the Security App is, they all need their settings configured, default selections are often a bit odd and over intrusive.

Security Apps do change over 10 years. That does not mean you can just ignore configuration settings and so forth.

I do not use Trend Micro so cannot give any detail other than it looks to be a possibility from googled for info on the subject.

You seem not to have looked at/checked Services, the correct clipboard one is listed in post #6.

Doubt if you will need to joust with PowerShell or repair installs.

Hello Helmut,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I have applied a Trend Removal Tool as per their instructions and then re-installed my Trend Micro Maximum Security app.
After re-booting I found that this did not rectify my Cut & Paste issue.
My only alternative left would be to re-install Win11...which I am reluctant to try.
I can live with this glitch as I can use workarounds.
Hopefully Microsoft will one day correct this, as I see I am not the only one who is mystified by this problem.

Thanks to all who helped/tried to help.

Cheers

For Troubleshooting purposes, Uninstall Trend Micro, but do not reinstall it.
After Restarting does this solve the Copy and Paste issue?

If so, you know what it is causing it.
If it does not work, then Press the Windows key+I in Settings/Recovery/Reset this PC/Reset this PC./Keeping Files
Your user files will not be touched, but you will have to reinstall TrendMicro and some other apps.

If the above fails to fix the issue:

Create a temporary new user account. Tell us if the same problem occurs. You can delete it after the test.
Just to find out if this is profile based and only tied to your current profile/account.

I believe this is user profile related. I could be wrong, but I am half way confident that if you follow the above two "painless" tutorials, you may find the problem is gone. This would mean it's a profile related issue.
