CorelDraw - Alternatives and ways of opening old files

Way back in 2011 I created a history panel listing past incumbents for the local church. I used CorelDraw. It now needs amending but I don't have CorelDraw. I tried the Free trial version but that doesn't seem to allow the opening of old files. A box asking for the app to use appears. I then tried Inkscape from Microsoft store but installation of that fails - gets as far as displaying 100% installed but then comes up with a message "Something happened at our end". The only option available is Retry which does the same thing.

The "Friends of the church would pay for a copy of CorelDraw Go (the beginners version which would be adequate) but i would prefer to avoid it having the expense of a new app and new panel.

Inkscape seems the best option but why will it not load?

What is the file type of the "history panel"?

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry for the delayed reply.
In the meantime I have made several attempts at installing Inkscape - all ended with "Something happened at our end". I've tried a few rotes but all end up the same.

I haven't tried the portable version of Inkscape
I can probably open the PDF file I had created at the time and then cut and paste the data toa new file using Publisher. That shifts the problem to October next year of course when Publisher is shut down!
