Solved Corrupt Sectors on HDD


If there was bad sector the SeaTools will give you option to repair it.

the Seatools bootable usb disc should be best used to check Seagate brand HDDs only and has some limited functions when running it on HDDs other than Seagate drives. OP's HDD in question appears to be a "Western Digital" brand HDD (because the model # begins with WD)

the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools for Windows 1.37 or Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS 5.27 program (though both discontinued by Western Digital) should have been used to check the WD-WCC6Y3SC915Z hard drive instead of Seatools.

The Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools for Windows wont repair bad sectors on Windows installed HDD as it can only be use while Windows OS booted.

Curious as to how old the offending drive is? How many hours has it been run, etc? ChrystalDiskImage report?

but you only checked part of the disk in that screenshot.

The seatools and wd programs do the same thing. The advantage of diskgenius is that it works on all brands, and it can do one chunk at a time, either select a partition or a range. Then do the next bit later on etc. So it is not 7hrs in one stretch.

all of these things can run the run the disks own self tests or check for bad sectors, or attempt to fix any bad sectors.

If it is an RMA situation then it might be better to use the mfr own tool as they might prefer the report from that.

Seatools are intended for Seagate disks, but they can be used for diagnosis (quick test and long test) of other brands as well. Some other manufacturer software check the brand of the disk and don't work for other brands. Seatools works for all brands, so it is preferred.

If there is no hardware issue in the drive, it must be a logical issue. You must backup your data and format it.
