Solved Couple questions about install requirements.

EDIT: Solution, TPM on my Asrock B450 board is not just a 1 step process. I had to enable fTPM, reboot, then also go to a different section, Trusted Computing, and enable the "security device" there. So it is a couple of switches and reboots in different locations in my BIOS/UEFI.

I created an ISO via UUP Dump, extracted it to a gpt, fat32, 8 GB, USB drive (which booted into setup no problem), and set my PC to meet all the "known" requirements but got the "This PC is not compatible" error upon selecting the drive on which to install. Secureboot =on, fTPM = on, GPT partition type on a 500 GB M.2 (Sata) SSD.

Is there any key required? I skipped it via "I don't have a key".
Something else I may have overlooked? I usually run good old legacy, MBR, with all the above nonsense off.

Basic specs: Ryzen 5 2600, on ASRock B450 board, 16GB RAM, GTX 1660 Super.

Partitioned via diskpart like so:

1. create partition efi size=100
format fs=fat32 quick label="system"

2. create partition msr size=16

3. create partition primary size=468992
format fs=ntfs quick label="WIN11"
assign letter="W"

4. create partition primary size=450
format fs=ntfs quick label="WinRE"
set id="de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac"

I used Rufus 3.14 to setup my W11 Pro usb installer, worked perfectly.

You should not make a partition on the M.2, leave it all unallocated.

Did you set the Bios to boot to UEFI only ?

But setting it to Legacy & UEFI should work too.

I`m going to go in and see if that setting will let me boot my MBR M.2 with W10 on it.

I did set BIOS to full UEFI, no CSM, safeboot=on (standard), fTPM=AMD TPM. I tried with manual partitioning, and then with a blank GPT disk to see if Windows 11 would handle it better. All failed with "This PC can't run Windows 11" type message, without even getting to the partitioning.

Don't knock yourself out trying to help me solve it or anything, I've pretty much given up and decided to wait a while and see what changes at this point. Not worth the hassle to me. All this, "we're going to dictate to you how to run your own personal hardware" crap doesn't sit well with me anyway.

Awesome, I changed the setting to Legacy & UEFI and added the MBR 970 Pro W10 M.2 as the 2nd boot device, brought up the Boot Menu to choose the M.2 and W10 booted no problem. Now this is a true independent dual boot.

You just have a Bios setting wrong, did you run both tools to make sure your PC was ready to install W11 ?

Yeah, I imagine there's a setting I am missing that is causing the TPM or something not to work properly. Like IOMMU or SVM or something probably has to be enabled with it...don't know. I ran the tools, but being that my usual install is MBR, some of the "requirements" can not be enabled and tested from there anyway, but they show I'm good to go except for not seeing GPT disks or TPM, which they wouldn't because they have to be off to run legacy/mbr.

Also, forgot to mention the builds I tried were 22000.65, and the one before it 22000.51, both from UUP dump. Same result with both. Also tried the trick replacing the apraiseres.dll with one from 21H1, that did not help either.

TPM does not have to be off, it`s on and my MBR W10 M.2 boots fine. I have Secure Boot enabled too.

Bingo! Think I sorted it, will edit first post for folks who may stumble across this...

Time to go try 11 again.

You can create a custom ISO by replacing install.wim or install.esd from the sources on Windows 10 ISO with the install.wim or install.esd of Windows 11.
This will allow you to install on hard drive using MBR instead of GPT.
Before doing the installation, turn off “Secure Boot” and switch to “Legacy Mode” on your BIOS.
Installing on Legacy Mode is generally easier and less troublesome.
You can switch back to UEFI and enable Secure Boot after the installation of Windows 11.
Before switching to UEFI, after booting into Windows 11, on command prompt (as administrator), use following command to convert the drive to GPT
mbr2gpt /convert /allowFullOS
Go back to BIOS to switch back to UEFI and enable Secure Boot.
Technically, Windows 11 can run on Legacy Bios and MBR.
Microsoft just discourage the OEMs or users to do so.

Yeah, I was thinking of that too, but wanted to try the standard "legit" method first to avoid that in the equation if I run into problems further in. I usually do run legacy/mbr just because UEFI has caused problems with...something, every time I try it out. Stuff like Acronis True Image boot CDs not booting, etc. Also the PITA of maintaining backup images of 4 partitions instead of just one. I find it (UEFI) cumbersome in a nutshell.

Security of UEFI and Secure Boot is achieved by locking down or restricting the system.
This approach would not bother ordinary users.
If you want to install OS yourself, build your own system; in short, you are a technical user, you may need to lift the restriction at least temporarily.
Personally, I would not bother to enable UEFI or Secure Boot.
I just added that piece of information in case you want your system to be “secured” or locked down.

I got it to install without modifying the iso or anything after learning which BIOS switches to throw. That said, I made it through about 2 hours of exploring and configuring before reaching my "NOPE!" limit and restoring my 10 backup. It was ignoring, and resetting my GPEDIT.msc settings. Mainly Winduhs Defender turning itself back on and gpedit going back to "not configured". NOPE!

I'll be switching to Windows 11....when I absolutely have to, as usual.
