CSM support keeps re-enabling itself

I disable CSM to enable SAM. Resize Bar and Above 4g Coding are on/enabled and they stay that way. Not CSM.

I will disable CSM Support in the bios and SAM does enable but I think whenever I encounter an error it will re-enable itself.
I'm not sure if that's related or is infact the cause.

Here is the error I get every couple days. These are clean drivers. I used DDU and the AMDCleanupUtility yet the issue still occurs. The drivers are directly from AMD's website.

It's a desktop I built. You're probably right... I don't think I've ever changed the CMOS battery in it. Been a good 4 years give or take? I should go look into that!

It's probably not the CMOS battery. If that was going you'd have many more problems than just CSM.
You have a vid card with 24GB vRAM, you probably don't even need Smart Access Memory (SAM).

I have an ASUS x570 board, and it likes CSM enabled. [All my drives are GPT and BIOS is UEFI]

Is there some particular reason you need SAM enabled?

If you insist on changing the CMOS battery, it's a CR 2032 battery.
You can get them almost anywhere. Drug stores, Walmart, Jewelry stores... etc.
The cost about $6 to $8

The CMOS battery in my mobo is over 6 years old, and still going...
The CR2032 batteries are "watch" batteries. They are so common, that they used them in motherboards too.
Because they're watch batteries... they last a loooong time.

$8.99 for a six-pack. (probably last you to the year 2100).

With sam enabled I get an extra 10-20fps depending on the game I'm playing. Also without SAM I notice micro stutters. Having it enabled makes a noticeable difference which is how I notice when CSM is re-enabled. I did realize if the CMOS battery was bad my BIOS would do a full reset or my computer might not even turn on but still I do think I need to replace it regardless since I think they only have 5 year lifespan? I could be wrong but better safe than no-boot.

It's more like ten years, but there's no way to know how long the motherboard sat in the box, before you bought it.

to add.. the lifespan get shorter if the computer is without main-power.
I have a desktop that has my offline backup disks, and i pull the power cable and network cable to protect the disks from powerspikes the lightning can cause.
That desktop eats up an 2032 in about 2 years

Yep. The CMOS battery is just to hold the BIOS setting for the "brief" time a computer is off.
But if it's off for years... yeah the battery will probably be dead.

Most BIOSes have a way to save your BIOS settings in a profile.
So if you know the comp will be off for years.. take the battery out.

When you're ready to use the comp again, put the battery in and load the saved profile.

In my BIOS you can save the profile to the BIOS or to a USB stick.
It's found on the Tools tab...

Yeah.. that one only has main power connected when i start it up for the monthly backup sync.. and that is 1-2 hours.. then i unplug it again.
Then on the other side of the coin.... my work desktop i built in 2018 is only without power if there is a short power outage.. that one still have a working battery after 8 years.
