Hi,

I want to customize the looks of my laptops home screen, from the default similar to what @Edwin , @Lokien , @Devlin1888 , @Bree , @Winuser , and other expert members have.

Repositioning start menu, search, wallpapers, themes etc.

How do I start and what should be 1st step?

Thanks.

Hi @Alexey2912 ! Second step should be, I think: trying to adjust Windows 11 to you liking using the settings provided by Windows itself. No need to install third party apps for things Windows can do natively! However, if you want a completely different start menu or taskbar, for instance, you may have to rely on third party tools. Anything specific you want to change and need help with?

After following @Ghot's advice, see if they're using third part apps. I know some are using Stardock apps:

I use Stardock's Object Desktop suite, which has most of the apps. Those I use are limited to Fences and CursorFX. Edwin also uses Windows Blinds, but I think that's on his Windows 10 machine as it currently doesn't work with Windows 11, so I don't use that. I also use Tansluscent Taskbar and Eleven Clock. This is my main desktop:

I opened one of the fences on the right to show you what it looks like if you use the collapsed Fences version.

Hope this helps.

I'm using StartAllBack. For the background pictures I use a slideshow of my own pictures that I copied to a folder I made on OneDrive called Desktop.

Thanks @Lokien , for sharing your expert views. I am happy with what Windows 11 has provided, thought that W7 like start menu could be managed without 3rd party apps.....with still in infancy and future updates those 3rd party might break and not easy to fix for a rookie like me...like i always mention curing covid is far damn easy for me vs. fixing Windows

I'll stay with native W11.

Thanks again!

Thanks for letting me know and link for 3rd party apps.....I assumed you experts did it using W11 settings, my bad!
Too advanced for me.....:cautious:
