Defender is no longer a sub-par antivirus app

I use Kaspersky Security cloud free antivirus because it uses less RAM than WD does, not that it matters much !

The never ending pis*ing AV package is so tedious now.

Choose the one you like (e.g. performance, ease of use, pretty colours etc.), move on.

A lot of opinions about AV packagea are just based on historical prejudice.

The only point we should all agree on is that running without an AV package at all is dumb. There are always some "arrogant" users who believe they know better than hackers, and their argument is "I am careful, so I do not need a package".

These guys should learn about the Swiss Cheese Risk Model.

In simple terms, any protection system has holes, and if you have more barriers, less risk of holes lining up letting an attack through. The more barriers, the lower the risk.

The weakest barrier is always human error.

A lot of people complained about MS forcing Windows 10 to require an AV package, but there is no doubt that the number of infected pcs has dramatically fallen, compared with Windows 7 days where (mostly gamers) turned off AV packages in pursuit of performance.
