Sure,. But there are a lot of people who aren’t as lucky as us and have no concept of computing. These support services are a blessing to them. And don’t forget, your original support assistance included your warranty.

Things happen. For some there is need for assistance and support and some not.
I spent my working career in electronic maintenance (as guitar amp tech then as a tech at a NASA Apollo tracking station) and later as a Regional LAN/WAN Network and hardware help desk manager. If things never "break" there would be no need for warranties, help desks, hardware tech;s, etc - but they do.

Don't confuse the terminology. Dell "Support Assist" is a SOFTWARE Program. An "Extended Warranty" is what you are or could pay for.
Calling warranty "Support Assist" is why all the responses about the software rather than Warranty support.

Every day I get an email - to renew my SupportAssist. Dell staff should have said that from the start. ? This is my 1st. Dell.. I know I will always find Drivers, BIOS, updates, Firmware, it just seems like I got dumped on pretty heavy with this unit.
I have more respect for this Forum & it's members than what I went thru with Dell!
As for driver updates (or any updates) There not going away. have a safe weekend ~ thx. for the reply...

I confess - I didn't read the warranty. It did state for me I had 30 days to return this laptop.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

It might take them time to implement un-subscription requests.
I know that other things I've unsubscribed from have taken a month or more to have any effect [and some senders include a warning about that in their emails].

I have a Dell Inspiron i3 7000 that I bought in 2017. It’s running windows 11 and Support Assist still feeds me drivers on occasion, I even got a flash update not that long ago. Last week it asked me in the update section of SA, to install a recovery partition if I wanted it.

I think my model [Dell Inspiron 7779] might well have been around for some time before I bought one and I think Dell decides end-of-support dates based on when the model was first made available rather than on the purchase date.

They have a SupportAssist "on-line" because these another post I asked about this topic somewhere else on this forum...
so I think I'm covered. But, I have to program 2-way radios. In DOS. & I'm jumping all over the laptop. I'm greatful for the replies. thank you!:-)

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

So my response was only an analogy but a more valid one as Bill Gates connection with Microsoft is significant as Co-Founder and majority shareholder of Microsoft.
