and, they took it 23 days before the year was up? I looked for it on the taskbar & it was gone? gone from the Start menu also. Were do I get "Drivers & Downloads"? It's a Laptop Inspiron 15 3511 Is there a Dell site to check now & then? regards...

That software has caused many problems, disappearing from Dell laptops for a few years. But I downloaded it recently and seems to be much better with the new version.

I only have the download for win 11

That link will give you the latest. A bit bloated but they have added the option to create a recovery drive.

I use Dell | Command Update most of the time. It's fast and only does driver updates and BIOS updates.

I have Dell SupportAssist but I use it only occasionally. It's much slower as it also includes hardware checks.

I was not suggesting that you pay for anything.
You will always be able to download updated drivers from that page and manuals from the other tabs you'll see there. These will never cost you anything.
Dell driver updates will peter out one day. In my case it was about two years after purchase.

I only followed the "bouncing ball" a free 1 yr. SupportAssist - worked out OK. Until they either want you to renew? Or follow the post #2 above.
The surprise was a renewall of th SupportAssist after the year is up. (I got 3 different prices for the basic- $75. $64. & a 3 digit, $ I forgot)
I'll get what I need from these kind people on this forum;-) Really Thanks for the replies above!

Thanks @denis - for me & others things were not so bad. but now at 72 yrs. old - Pharmacy wants me to use a pc to send in my scripts, Doctors want to do video-chats! and on-line banking to pay the bills. Living from paycheck to paycheck :ffs:you know what I mean... 73's

I work the Dell forums.
As noted, SA is free as are any driver updates. Extended/renewed warranties are not.

In regards to SA, it has been a hassle for some and not an issue for others. My suggestion is to leave it installed but disable it in startup. Manually install any Dell driver updates, especially a BIOS update (We have seen some Bricked PC's with failed/corrupted BIOS using SA to update BIOS)

The reason to leave SA installed is it has hooks to the POST (Power On Self Test) error reporting.
