Desktop Shortcuts - Slow Response

My tablet is usually blinding fast but during the last week it has slowed down, each shortcut taking up to a minute to open. This goes equally for hyperlinks as well as process shortcuts (e.g. Disk Cleanup).
I cleaned out things I don't need and used Task Manager to ascertain what's going on which is not easy since the W11 designers redesigned it to be almost totally useless.
Also I tried uninstalling updates to see if that hwelped but it didn't.
WU only allowed me to uninstall 2 anyway.
Any thoughts?

When I have problems now, I just "reinstall using Windows Update." It may take an hour or so but it saves time in the long run.

Yes, thanks. I was trying to avoid it but it seems the only way. I will try System Restore first, I have a restore point of the 19th so will try that first.
