OS
Windows 11
I just bought a 2nd hand Desktop PC, it has 4 RAM slots and came with 2 x 8gb 3200 cards, I have another same speed 2 x 16gb cards, if I'm going to put them in as well, is there any better option of where to place them i.e. the 2 x 8b next to each other or spaces between them i.e. 1 x 8 then 1 x 16 and repeat ... or might it run better with just the 2 x 16gb?

Hope I'm making myself clear with what I'm asking??

Any guidance appreciated.

Depending how old the Desktop is, from what I know, is that you place the two varieties in "every other" slot.

So 8GB goes in the first slot, from whichever way you want to start. Then 16GB next to it. Then the other 8GB next to that, then lastly the 16GB on the other end.

So: 8GB 16GB 8GB 16GB

is that you place the two varieties in "every other" slot.
While common, That is not always true.. Check motherboard manual to see which slots are paired. You would want the 2 8gb sticks paired together and the 2 16 gb sticks paired together. So, assuming that the 2x 8 gb sticks you have is running in dual channel, put the 2 16 gb sticks into the remaining slots.
I caution you to check how much ram your system can use. Just because you have 2 unused slots does not necessarily mean you can run a total of 48gb of ram. Each motherboard has its limitations as to kind and size in each slot..
