Difficulty downloading from nVidia's site

Hello!

Every time I try to download a driver from nVidia's site the download is interrupted at some point stating "Couldn't download - Network issue". I click to resume the download but it is interrupted again several times. If I try to download from other websites, I have no issues. Well, maybe I have difficulty downloading Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft's site as well. Does anyone has a similar issue when downloading large files? How can I solve it? Please don't even think about a clean Windows installation. No thanks! The point of this thread is to solve the issue, not go through the hassle of a clean installation.

P.S. I have this issue on my main PC (see second system specs) with Microsoft Edge. I tried Firefox and it has this issue there too.

I use this site... and it just worked for me, on the latest Firefox... file was 669MB




Could it be that you're having issues downloading "large" files, and not smaller ones?
Try downloading this... from the "yellow" download button... file is 345MB




Here's a site with various different size test downloads...

Try downloading the 150MB file.

I wouldn't "open" any of these files... just try to download the 150MB one... then just delete it.
The 150MB file scans clean, locally and at Virustotal.


If you can download the smaller files... maybe your ISP has put some kind of limit on downloads that take a longer time?
I can't think of any kind of Windows setting, that would affect just larger files.

I too had a problem yesterday Oct 17 at 10 AM - 1st was a popup saying the site link was insecure 'do u want to continue?' Wish I had taken a screen shot - I did not, tried a reload and it automatically started to download then INSTALL the Nvidia update. Quickly X'd out and then it hung my system.
Shut down restart showed NO update was done but my video driver was the MS driver and NO video card was shown
Thank God for Macrium - did a backup and didn't try to get Nvidia update - This AM all was fine and I'm dubious about trying again

Have you ever tried to use a download manager at all? Like IDM or similar?

The Nvidia UK download site hasn't worked for me this month or last, but I can get the drivers from the US site

I have not yet antspants - I'm familiar with the site Ghot linked but have not had a Nvidia update problem like this before. Would be interesting to know what site the OP was informed about the update - for me it was GEForce experience

Hi mate. I have used IDM (Internet Download Manager) for years, there are free download managers but I bought this one. Apart from the obvious resuming capabilities, some like IDM, also boost download speeds by breaking the file up and accelerating the process. Not sure if they have a free trial, most apps do.

I suppose that you could try a download manager. (I haven't used one in years.) The main capability I'd hope for would be the ability to resume a download that has been interrupted.

Aside from large downloads, do you have any issues with your Internet connection?

I just downloaded the latest Nvidia driver from the site with no issues? Which Nvidia site are you accessing? If from Greece might be a different location than en(English). Could it be your ISP? DNS problem? Could be a Peering issue. Try another Nvidia geographical location.

Since Microsoft Edge and Firefox have the ability to resume download, I haven't tried a download manager. I will try to see if the problem is fixed. It might be some bandwidth issue, but this is weird. I had a similar issue with a no brand card reader. If I was copying large files and copy speed exceeded 20MB/sec it would freeze File Explorer as it would get undetected. I would use a bandwidth limiting utility to constrain the maximum speed so I could copy large files. But this sounds ridiculous. I will try a download manager and see.

I just tried to download the 1GB video from the website you suggested. Same again. The download was interrupted. Maybe there is some bandwidth limitation. Is there any extension or otherwise I could limit download bandwidth so I can see if the issue is solved? Does any download manager has this feature or at least resume automatically if it is interrupted?

Internet Download Manager (IDM) can limit bandwidth and auto resume.
I believe Free Download Manager (FDM) also does these things and seems to be quite popular. Probably because it is free. I have a lifetime IDM license so I have never tried FDM



Also, apparently there is a Throttling setting in Firefox. I have never seen it. Apparently you open Network Monitor (Ctrl+Shift+E), click on the "No Throttling" dropdown and choose a limit.
