Disable ribbon completely

Is there a way to turn off the ribbon completely?
I don't want the Win10 version either. Just clean like this:

No, but why on earth would you do that - you would cut functionality of explorer right down?

Because it's slow and laggy even on my 9700k!
If you don't believe me, press F11 and see how much faster and more responsive it becomes!

Then there is something else wrong. It makes no detectable difference on my pc pressing F11.

My bet is something wrong with indexing or Defender causing issues.

By pressing F11, you may be fixing the symptoms but not the root cause.

I totally agree with @cereberus It's a computer problem. If it was an explorer issue, about 20% of worldwide users would be up in arms screaming at the top of their lungs.

Maybe people are used to this?
This is how slow it is. Spinning wheel every time I open a folder!
When I used win10 everything was instant.

Compare that to fullscreen mode (F11)... the difference is noticeable.

The ribbon is useless for me anyway, I never used it, and I wish I can turn it off.

Sorry, but on my end there's no lag there. Does anyone else see it that way or are my old eyes failing me? I did notice you opening certain folders such as prefetch that originally you did not have permissions to open. It seems you have changed some permissions so that could be part of your problem.

Actually, I should have said the only lag (and it's not much) is with folders that you originally did not have permissions to open.

I do see the spinning wheel on your end which I do not see on mine. I suggest you try 2 things before attempting a repair install.

1. See if it happens in safe boot. Boot to Safe Mode in Windows 11 Tutorial

2. See if it happens in clean boot. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial

I have seen this a few times on Win10 systems. I know for a fact the trick linked below, resolved the issue on WIN 10.

I personally can not say if it would work on Win11, but have read remarks that it does.

Apologies if this is totally off base, only intending to throw something out there for you. If you wish to give it a quick try, it's very simple....

I thought at the beginning it was a troll video, but then I saw the comments and people are happy with that solution!

Well, it's not just the spinning wheel, it's the extra ~300ms of a blank folder before it shows the content.
I will try the solutions by glasskuter and see what happens.
