Disk cleanup -- Ms why Hide it

Thi is on Dev channel. Clicking on 'storage usage' takes you to system storage usage then click on temporary files.

This is just bonkers -- what's the point of having "Disk properties" if you have to hunt all over the shop to get at various bits of disk management.

I like to view it as a human-assisted OS a la Darwin.

Be careful for what you wish for !!

Have a look at the new TV series "The Fear Index" based on the Robert Harris novel.
Spoiler alert - the series is based on an A.I trading system based on the "VIX" the Stock traders "Volatility Index" but becomes so powerful it actually causes real world events to happen incluiding sabotaging a plane crash to "Short" an airline stock and other events which move the "VIX" to generate massive stock movements.

Great series -- if you can't get the TV series (available on all the basic Torrent sites) just try the Robert Harris book "The Fear Index". Once you start it you won't want to put it down if you have any interest at all in A.I

That's it.
Clicking on Temporary Files takes you to what you normally see with Disk Cleanup, including Previous Version of Windows (Windows.old folder), if you haven't already deleted it. I don't think that any functionality has been lost. It's just in a different location and to me, it's presented in a much nicer way.

Mostly Windows 11 has been a backward step in functionality for me. I still prefer Windows 10 by a long margin, and all my other computers are going to stay with Windows 10 for the immediate future. There are so many changes in Windows 11 that I hate, but this seems to me to be one I can live with.

By the way. I still have Disk Cleanup in Build 22000.526.
It's still in all the usual places, including if I simply search for disk cleanup from the Start Menu.
I guess it must be getting removed soon.

Because MS want us to use 'storage sense" instead. I look for disk cleanup to be deprecated before too long. I agree. It's asinine to make users jump through hoops when it's so easy for functions that are familiar to the user to be left alone. Just another thing they've taken away.

Well here's a new Windows 11 way of grouping disk management tasks that I've only just spotted.

New for 11, if you are in File Manager and have selected a disk, or are looking at its contents, then you no longer need to look at its Properties to get to Disk Clean-up or Optimise. Just click on the ... three dots menu.
