I suggest that all aspects of your requirements should be considered - performance requirements, support requirements, timescale requirements [including effective lifespan requirements], financial requirements/constraints.
Each of these needs its own thorough consideration.
- Support [for example] includes documentation, provision of Bios & driver updates for given periods, direct technical support, provision of spare parts, ...
- Dell [again, just for example] is good at some of these support issues but not others, in my experience.
Getting the information to assess whether or not your requirements are met can be difficult in itself.
- I would never again want to be saddled with an S0 Modern standby computer because of its severe performance limitations so I'd want to see the results of the PowerCfg -a command before choosing a laptop.
- I'd hazard the guess that I'm only going to get that information from other users of the brand-model and that would be a job & a half.
