Hi -
Double click works in all programs and apps as expected, except in File Explorer title bar. Double click opens files and folders in File Explorer, but does not maximise or minmise the File Explorer window. If I restart File Explorer in Task Manager it sometimes works (but not always) for one use, but then fails to work. As said above, double click works in File Explorer panes to open files and folders, and works as expected in all other apps. Any ideas please?

1) Open Registry Editor
2) Go to:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
3) On the right side, look for "MaximizedWindows"
4) If it exists, what number value does it say?

Thanks Spunk, but that's not what I want to do - that does work but what I want to do is simple toggle between maximised and reduced window simply by double-clicking in the File Explorer title bar. It works on every other app, and used to work in File Explorer

Open a File Explorer window & wait for the window to load.
Try to double-click the title bar very fast, compared to double clicking at a slower speed.
Thanks - just tried that and it worked once only, but it works every time on all other windows. Tried fiddling with the mouse double-click speed but that made no difference. Now tried restarting File Explorer in Task Manager, and it worked three times then stopped working!

Strange how it worked once, then 3 times after an Explorer restart.

I would suggest doing DISM & SFC commands to try to fix errors on your computer:
Here's the guide:

After running DISM/SFC if the issue still persists, I'd check if the issue persists in clean boot. If it doesn't happen in a clean boot, you have some software conflicting with Windows. Brink's procedure will help you weed out which one. If you're using any 3rd party app that alters the GUI, look toward that one first. If that made no difference, I would create another local user account to test with. Give it administrator privileges. If it doesn't happen using another account, there is a problem with your user account.
