What's wrong with using any browser with the PRINT function -- to Ms Windows pdf printer and then save the file.

Am I missing something in this thread-- such a simple solution - I must have lost the plot somewhere.

Or just attach it as a file to Outlook if you have it and then print the attachment -- you dont even have to open it first.

You did lose nothing! Just one more step to do to download a simple PDF! and more bandwidth usage. Of course, for me, because in my region, Internet speed and price are disgusting, and this is very important for me.

If you don't HAVE a printer attached... Windows ignores all things print related, or throws an error.

I'm not really ashamed. :D

Long ago, I did have a printer. But I printed so very little, that the ink would go bad before I needed to use the printer again.

The print to pdf doesn't need a physical printer - it will just create a file just install the standard windows printer as the pdf printer -- again no physical printer needed.

Worked on mine -- I'll test with a brand new VM with no previous printers installed and no hardware passthru on the VM. Give me about 30 mins to find a spare VM --still Breakfast time here on a Sun Morning !!!

It may not be the same through a VM. The VM may "see" the printer, even though it's not accessible?
I don't DO VMs so I may not understand.


I went back to my motherboard website and checked the PDF manuals.
I can't find any way to even get into a printer dialog... in Firefox or Windows.

Check the two links to "safe" PDFs in post #11
I get different results with those two.

The Cooler Master product sheet will open in Firefox, BUT it does have a SAVE icon at top right.
With Firefox set to save ALL PDFs and all PDFs associated with SumatraPDF (in Windows), the Cooler Master sheet will open in Firefox and offer a download link.

The ASUS motherboard manual download button, won't open in Firefox with things set the way I have them.

I have that OFF and I don't want to turn it on. ;-)

I also have Print and Document Services in that window... turned off.

Those are my (get this)... "bog standard" settings. :-)
