I use the WW method.

I find "whatever works", and that becomes my method from then on. :D

Here's your document -- cant really see what the problem or even the the issue is all about. If you don't install / enable the microsoft print to pdf then unless you've got some other software you won't be able to do it.

This time using Firefox but same process as edge.

Check the two links to "safe" PDFs in post #11
I get different results with those two.

The Cooler Master product sheet will open in Firefox, BUT it does have a SAVE icon at top right.
With Firefox set to save ALL PDFs and all PDFs associated with SumatraPDF (in Windows), the Cooler Master sheet will open in Firefox and offer a download link.

The ASUS motherboard manual download button, won't open in Firefox with things set the way I have them.

Yeah I know.
Those are the two main types of PDF handling methods, I've run into on the webz.

The ASUS motherboard version is the most common. I had to search a bit to find the Cooler Master version.

I don't use EDGE and I don't want any PDF to open in the browser. :-)

It works for me. AFAIK, a website can determine (in its HTML/CSS codes) whether a PDF is downloadable or not. But in the end, it's the browser setting that overrides the website's settings.
Because Edge acts as a PDF viewer (in my case), it chooses to open PDF(s) instead of downloading. It says that if the user needs to download it he/she opens it first, and then will press the "Save" button. IMO, it's an absolute idiotic reason.

It's Microsoft which has made life complicated for us. We can choose whether to let them or not. Unfortunately, I did!
They have to add another option:

The icon used depends on the default PDF viewer - If you set SumatraPDF as default, that'll be the icon. If Adobe, that'll be the icon.

You can set file types to use a default program....
pdf file type.jpg

Or you can set the program itself to use supported file types...
Set defaults by application.jpg

This is done via Start > Settings > Apps > Default Apps

I have mine set to Adobe Acrobat so this is what the icons look like....

You can change file type icons as you desire with FileTypesMan (a portable app from Nirsoft).

I always changed the PDF file type icon to the Adobe Reader Classic PDF icon (I like it) when I used Sumatra as my default PDF reader.
Since Edge released its internal PDF viewer, I made it the default PDF viewer. I didn't change its PDF file type icon because the icon is very nice.
