Drive not showing in "this pc"

I have a problem with a usb drive that i use on my tv that works fine but when I stick it in my pc and other pc's it does not show up in "this pc". if i click on the tool bar at the bottom it knows there is a usb in there and it will ask me to safely eject if I hover over, it will also show up in device manager as a usb but It will not show "this pc" and i can not open the drive to see my files. Anyone have a clue what the f is going on?

We try to keep it nice in here.

In Disk Manager, does it have a drive letter?

If not:

  • Press Win + X and select Disk Management.
  • Locate your USB drive in the bottom pane (usually listed as "Removable").
  • Right-click on the USB partition (not the disk label) and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths.
  • Click Add if no letter is assigned, or Change to modify the current one.
  • Select a drive letter from the dropdown and click OK.
  • Confirm any prompts. Your USB should housefly now appear in File Explorer.

Check in Disk Management to see if it's assigned a drive letter.

It isn't assigned a letter and it won’t let me assign one for that drive, it shows different partitions for the drive.

nitpicking there a bit i see there was no swearing in there at all. All options are greyed out so I can not change the drive letter.

Format it appropriatly. Windows possibly sees it as unallocated partitions. It’s been used in the TV, could be the reason.

When a USB stick has been used in a TV and then disappears from Windows 11 File Explorer, it usually means the TV changed how the drive is seen by Windows. Common causes are:

The TV reformatted or altered the partition table or file system to something Windows doesn’t support.
The TV marked the partition as hidden or unallocated, so Windows can’t assign it a letter.
The TV left the file system in a corrupted or incomplete state, making it unreadable to Explorer.

In these cases, the drive still physically works, but Windows won’t display it until the format/partitioning is made compatible again.

I won't be able to format the drive if windows can not see it.

Can anyone who is knowledgeable help to read a usb storage device on windows 11. Drive does not show up in my pc. Works on the tv itself. Command prompt does not show the usb drive. Device Manager does show the existence of the usb drive. You can not assign a drive letter for the drive in disk management. seems no one has an answer so far.
